Day one was excellent.

Thank you for the pics, Nelson! Bricasti DAC - can you say anything more about it? As good as the hype, even at the show?

I'm not surprised - but from the sounds of things - well worth it.

Let me ask - is there a way to adjust the bass - other than with placement?

Day one was interesting as I feel that most of the rooms I saw on floor 4 and 5 (to the left of reception) were filled with creative, innovative, and often a little "out there" companies.

Late in the day I made it to the atrium level and got to hear Focal Grand Utopia EM's in back to back (similar/same sized), side by side rooms. Was that some evil plan by Focal? :). One with a full VAC statement setup and one with the best Soulution has to offer. WOW! Talk about putting world class gear to the test. Those two rooms were hard to leave.

The Nordost (so you don't think cables matter?) demo was pretty cool. As much as I love the Valhalla 2 cables, the middle of the road (and even their Blue something line) offers amazing amazing value. I'm talking 90% of the Valhalla 2's. Once you go from stock to something like the Nordost Blue - you've gained 90%. There are subtle improvements as you move up the line, but then the law of diminish returns kicks in big time. That hour long demo on IC's, PC's, USB, Sort Foot Cones, etc. was awesome. The biggest value was putting those sort foot cones under your sources. I heard huge differences - and for the better.

To be honest, as much as I love hearing and seeing the gear, the people are why I come to RMAF. Great people, great times, backed by great gear and laughs.
