Legendary jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli has passed away at the age of 94 from Covid-19. Sadly, his wife Joan also passed away from Covid-19 several days afterwards.

I was a huge fan of Bucky and saw him play countless times over the last thirty years. His mastery of complex chord progressions on his seven string guitar and the speed that he could execute them was a sight to behold. He was also an amazing Gypsy Jazz guitar player as well as a classical guitarist. RIP Bucky and Joan.

My wife is one quarter Gypsy and we loved listening to Bucky play Gypsy Jazz with Aaron Weinstein, a young jazz violinist. In fact, Bucky used to play with the great Stephane Grappelli after Django passed. He was a remarkably versatile jazz guitarist.

So that's why this showed up on my Youtube feed yesterday!
Did not know of Bucky before but beautiful guitar work on there together with his son John Pizzarelli.

May his soul rest in peace! We are losing too many to this cursed virus.
