Record Storage

Hope my tubes don't read about this "tube closet" business. They won't like the fact they have to live in cardboard boxes divided by type.

I just finished my diy laser disc (same size as lp's) shelf as I was running out of space too. 2 x 4's and pine shelving is cheap but it took me a while to notch out the 2 x 4's. I don't know how to use a router so I used a wood chisel and hammer. And a hand saw. At least I used a power drill for the screws. Okay, I'm not a woodworker but it turned out to be strong and looks okay from a distance. If you look close the notches look like they were made by a beaver.:disbelief: If I was ambitious I would fill all the gaps and paint it. Everything is nice and square so it would turn out nice. Maybe I'll do that in the summer when I can open the windows when I paint it.

Nice. I see you have mono clocks ;) :P

One option to consider is to go to a custom book shelf maker and have them make you something. I priced it out once and it wasn't that bad. I haven't tried one of those closet organizer makers, but that might be another option. I personally like to hide my collection behind doors. For a cheap solution, Foremost Cubes will work.

^^^ Did the same. Went down the custom built track to match up other period furniture. Some museum glass but everything is behind doors.

Have a 3m tall IKEA Besta cleaning/storage station also.

Anyone that's been to my house lately knows that I've run out of room with my records. I've been looking around for a solution. Of course, the defacto standard is the IKEA KALLAX. I look at some others like Mapleshade and Wax stacks. But this one really caught my eye, so I decided to order it:

Mike,

Do you know what the differences are between that LPBIN2 and the LPBIN? LPBIN is about $90 cheaper. So, I was wondering why.

Thanks!
