Something I can stream on netflicks or itunes. Something new-ish. Thanks!

Having played cello in a talented and competitive High School orchestra, I want to see Whiplash.

Ken

I found whiplash to be underwhelming and badly acted despite wanting to like it b/c it's about a jazz drummer. Didn't live up to the hype in my view.

The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game on the other hand were very good.

I guess that was why it was nominated for 5 Oscars. :P

Exactly! :)
And Birdland, another big oscar winner and lousy film. Innaritu is one of my very favourite directors but i felt like Birdland was one of his worst.
Grand Budapest Hotel, on the other hand, was a quirky and fun film, great set and cinematic aesthetic, and I was thankful that it actually received a nomination, let alone win awards!

John Wick.....

The Grand Budapest Hotel.

I love this movie on so many levels. It reminds me of my own Austro-Hungarian heritage. The music excites my blood.

I could not get past 30 minutes of Budapest Hotel or Birdman. I loved Whiplash and the music. Miles Teller is from a town a half hour from me and was good, but JK Simmons stole the show and should have won Best Actor, not Keaton.

Last night we saw The Theory of Everything. What an awesome story on many levels. Highly recommended.

Brian, totally agree, JK's acting in this role was stupendous.

JK Simmons did win an Oscar but for Best Supporting Actor. And Michael Keaton didn't win Best Actor, Eddie Redmayne did for Theory of Everything.
