Raidho

I heard the Monitor at Audio Salon and sound it very rich and powerful, detail, hard to believe that sound came from a pair of monitors. Also John took me to a friend’s house where he was auditioning the 3.1 I think, if I can also recalled pair with VAC gear and Valhalla Cables. The sound was huge, transparent where you could hear the air around the instruments, rich and detail without being analytical, you get the picture. I think the other were these big Avalon Speakers and they were so far behind that I was not surprise to learn that he bought the 4.1.

Kevin - are you becoming the Mike & Joe of Australia? :)

Wow! He went from auditioning 40k speakers to the next model up worth a paltry 100k more, man I'd love to have that one in my resumé.

My bad our friend never got the 4.1, he bought the 3.1, but he still thinking about it I hear.

Dave (?),

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for joining.

Do you have the Scaena 3.2 on display? I'd like to hear them sometime.

Thanks!

I know the Radiho's and where they are better than the Strads, but to me this is still a lateral move, you gain increased transparency but lose a touch more bass and a more liquid presentation.

both speakers have similar dynamic capabilities and both throw a big sound stage.

I would look to go to another level such as a pair of Scaena 3.2 which are not quite as transparent than the Radiho's but throw a bigger and even more panoramic sound stage with much more visceral bass.

Thanks for that, even though I haven't heard the 3.1's I highly doubted that they would be a better thing than the Strads, so I went with these instead.

With the MT series, the majority of construction is done by hand and the high-gloss 2-pack finish is built up to 30 layers over multiple weeks with ultra fine sanding in between each layer. Build time is 5-8 weeks per pair and we only build 8-10 pairs per year.
Drivers
Scan Speak Revelator ring-radiator tweeter, low distortion and power compression with a bandwidth out to 40Khz
5" paper cone midrange with FEA optimised magnetics achieving perfect flux symmetry.
10" long-throw, low-distortion paper cone woofers optimised for sealed box use. FEA optimised magnetics and cone profile. Purpose designed and custom built.
Bass Enclosure
Double constrained layer damped construction consisting of dual marine plywood internal walls with a high-density external polymer skin.
Extensive interlocking bracing system, marine ply.
Internally treated with SGR Selective MemBrane (SMB) technology to eliminate standing waves and box induced colorations.
Seamless construction technique with no visible join lines. Remains stable over time.
Magnetically attached grille.
Custom made marine grade stainless steel spikes with level adjustment and locking nut.
Mid-Hi Enclosure
Stacked layer highly-damped marine plywood internal structure with a high-density external polymer skin.
Floating front baffle isolated from the enclosure and mounted with shock-mounts. No mechanical connection between the drivers and the enclosure walls.
Internally treated with SGR Selective MemBrane (SMB) technology to eliminate standing waves and box induced colorations.
Seamless construction technique with no visible join lines. Remains stable over time.
Sorbothane based dual layer isolation system stops bass enclosure vibrations from modulating the midrange output.
Magnetically attached grille.
Custom made marine grade stainless steel spikes with level adjustment and locking nut (smaller version of bass enclosure spikes) Triangular spike arrangement allows easy tilting of the MT head unit.
Electronics
The MT3F's are an active loudspeaker requiring an electronic crossover and 6 channels of amplification.
Crossover circuitry designed using ultra-low noise and distortion components and values were calculated using the latest computer based optimisation programs.
Amplification is provided by the Elite series ELs stereo units or ELm monoblocks. See options tab for more details.
Warranty
3 year return to base warranty

Hi Mike, mine are still being built, so at the mo I have a pair of SGR Audio CX3B's on loan for a few months, they are the 3 way active bookshelf speakers that hold their own with many bigger speakers indeed!!

Right. Did they have a demo pair you could hear? I'm assuming so. How did those sound?

Mike, I heard the same amps that will be in my new speakers paired up with the Strads, they were better than the 2301's , but, they also showed up the shortcomings of the Strads so the next logical move was to go active speakers with the same amps made by the same company that makes both

Long Island.

It will still be about a month before I see the Dagostino preamp.

Sure Joe,

I would love to have you over do you live in New York City? You have some great gear, I would love to do a shoot out of my Chord electronics vs your Dagostino stuff, the Chord is remarkable. Where did you get the Dac 2X from?

I would love to hear your setup too.

Another month? Really? Sorry to hear that. How long's the wait been thus far?:(

Well, something to look forward to for the summer months!:audiophile:

I've lost count, but it has been a long time. I am really starting to get anxious now.
