Bay, you can call me Bob. ...I too used to have a R2R for recording my own music (forgot the brand, but it was made in Germany and it had a strong heavy case for portability from one musician's place to another).
- When you wanted to go to a specific spot it was a pain in the butt! ...It sounded good though, it sounded 'right', organic. ...But just not practical enough in today's world, and music recordings aren't easy to get by on R2R tapes.
There is one that my friend recently told me I can have; just no way, too much work to do on it, as those require a lot of care and maintenance.
Jeff, I must still have a dozen or so cassette tape decks, but they are totally extinct now, in my life.
I don't even talk, or post about these plus all the things I did, with enormous time investment, and money too.
* I find it easier and cheaper to live in a digital world. And because I'm a practical man, I espoused that world a long time ago, and still today. My LPs and turntables (cheap ones by the way), only on occasions I live back that world, more for nostalgic reasons than anything else; and I don't have the motivation to reinvest time and money to recreate a better analog world.
I love everything that I did and still do in my 45 years into this audio hobby. ...Everything equally.

And why the heck AA banned me for!!! ...Man, this is totally uncalled for! ...I did nothing to nobody!
