Have you updated your OS to 'Sequoia' ?

I remember a prior update that turned into a nightmare, glitches, slowdowns, etc.

Hi,

I waited quite a while to upgrade from Sonoma, since I have a lot of audio (DAW and plug-ins) software that need updates and qualification for new versions of macOS. Since the upgrade a few months back, it has been rock solid and no issues to report.

macOS upgrades are dependent on the Mac model you are running and any software that may need updates/upgrades. Historically, older Macs have a "soft limit" on the version they can upgrade to, since the oldest ones still supported may not work well with any new functions, or simply don't have enough hardware power to run the latest macOS smoothly.

Cory, thank you ! I have read the Sequoia info page and all looks good for my iMac, fingers crossed.....

When a new OS is released, I typically wait no more than a week to upgrade to the newest version. My thinking is that one week is more than enough to hear the feedback (good or bad) about the update. Upgrading is also important for security reasons as new versions often contain security fixes for previous versions.

Sad but very true. I have a perfectly good 2017 iMac - 27" display, 40 Gb RAM, 2 Tb hard drive, incredible graphics card, all of it working perfectly to this day. I have already been disappointed that I can't get several apps, and now no Sequoia for me.

Here's the problem: Having this all-in-one computer means that I can't just replace the processor, I have to get a whole new computer. According to the people at the Apple Store, I cannot get a new Mac mini and repurpose my current Mac as a display only. I will not under any circumstances be going back to PC, but from now on I will also not be getting any more all-in-one Macs.

I keep up with the most current Mac OS. I always felt it was needed for security reasons. I don’t run any critical software, or drivers though. Back when I was in medical practice, software was pretty much PC only. Using a MAC for personal use was a great way to keep both the work environment, and the personal, separate, and more secure for each side. Not saying I did not write off my computer spending…

Using Mac OS 15.5 Sequoia on my 2025 Macbook Air 15" with no problems.
I just upgraded to this same MacBook, it came with Sequoia...I no longer get email notifications as well as calendar and message notifications. Every once in awhile I get a random notification. And if your are trying to run Paralles, good luck with that!
Tried everything to solve it with no luck...seems like others have similar issues. I miss my old MBP with BigSur, it was bullet proof

Hmm...odd. I get email notifications on the Apple Mail app as well as message notifications on my Messages app. I'd set up an appointment with an Apple support rep at the Genius bar at your local Apple store or schedule a call with Apple Support: ‭1 (800) 275-2273‬.

As for Parallels, I don't think it will run on the new Apple Silicon. IIRC, that app relied on the legacy Intel-based processors. I'd ask the Apple Genius about this, as well.
