Question for Harley owners

Is there a necessity for owners of Harley Davidson motorcycles to rev the engine prior to turning off the engine?

Curious if it's written in the owners manual as a must do since every Harley owner I've ever known does this rev-up thing (even if just a little WHOMMP) prior to killing the engine.

Or is it just something cool to do to let everyone around know you've arrived?

Mike, its all about the sound of the Harley even when the rider is stopped at a light or stop sign they Rev the motor
The sound is addicting. I know I do it with out even thinking about it.
