My wife is a quilter (for over 30 years), a quilt teacher (for the last 3), a rug hooker (for about 3 years), a beader (recent), basically all things crafty (all her life). She started rug hooking about 3 years ago and, in her typical fashion, decided to go big right away. She designed a pattern to fit into our kitchen decor with her rug teacher and completed it in about a 6-9 month period. It's about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, to give you some idea.
It came out pretty cool. All her associated rug hookers told her to enter it into an international rug hooking magazine, so we had some photo's taken and submitted it. Damn, her rug was selected to be in the annual "best of 2013" edition.
Now, we just found out that she won 2nd place for their readers choice awards, where the readers of the magazine submit their votes for what they liked best among all the winners in the annual contest. Unfortunately they never contacted her for her in-depth commentary (bad phone # or e-mail?) but here's a link to the article.

Holy crap! I'm so proud.
