Portable Analog Music?

Hey Guys,

Please don't take this as a digital vs. analog thread. It's not. It's about music management or format management. It's an honest to goodness question.

I love my music and I listen whenever I can: in the car, commute to work, at work, traveling, etc.) One great think about digital music: download/rip once, but listen anywhere and everywhere via ipod, iphone, usb, Sonos, cloud based, etc.

For those whose primary source is vinyl, what do you do to take your music with you if you are so inclined? Do you buy a digital version, too, or do you convert your vinyl to digital? Just curious as someone who may dip their toes in the vinyl waters but still want their music accessible at all times...:what:

Allen... I use an iPod. Also a lot of vinyl comes with either a digital download or a CD included. I want to convert some vinyl to digital but need to get software (not sure which one to get).

Allen... Sometimes. Recently a few CD's had bonus tracks that weren't on the vinyl version. I will also buy a used CD even if I own the vinyl of it. I have enough variety in CD's or downloaded music on the iPod that I am not worried if I don't have everything on CD/iPod that I have on vinyl. Also I have things on CD/iPod that I do not have on vinyl. So I guess it works both ways.
 
For me it's easy. I don't listen to much music outside of my house.
Few songs on my phone which I rarely listen to , 2 CDs in my car, and a USB stick with about 100 songs on it in my car radio that I was bored of 2 years ago. And most all those songs I don't ha e on vinyl.
Mostly listen to sports talk radio in the car and at work.
I like to save the good music for my time between my speakers for the most part.
 
That's a great (and fair) question. I have Spotify (use to have MOG) and I use it in the car. My new Hyundai Santa Fe has Bluetooth so I can play it wirelessly in my car. I have some playlists of my favorite albums and off I go. Otherwise, it's HD Radio (a truly great product that gets very little love IMO). My last car had HD Radio and I won't buy one without it. Classic rock and some other great stations - all commercial free and sounding better than older FM (non HD).

But I basically use Spotify to listen to my favorite Albums or to preview new releases. I've actually found some gems that I would never have bought without first hearing it on Spotify/MOG.
 
Thanks for the replies, guys. Was just curious given all the different devices I listen to my digital music on. There are USB TTs out there to help you 'rip' your vinyl to digital, so curious if anyone had any experience with one.

Jeff, yes, now I do see some mp3s also available with LP purchases. Great to know!
