Please share your experience with Miyajima Mono cartridges

Just as the title says, please share any comparisons either within the Miyajima line of mono cartridges or the Miyajima vs. XXXX.

I've found a recent incompatibility with my Ortofon Cadenza Mono and my current Sentec EQ-11 phono stage (hum) and if I can get confirmation back that the Miyajima doesn't have similar issues, I'd like to explore their offerings.

I had the premium mono and now own the zero. One of my most fun cartridges. All the meaty goodness of the mono premium BE but with added transparency. A lot of cartridge and performance for the money. They could have charged 4-5k easily.

I've never listened with a Miyajima of any kind so it's a new frontier for me to venture this direction.

Having far more experience with other brands of cartridges yourself, can you describe the Miyajima "sound" compared to other cartridge makers or lines? E.g., Dynamics of XXX but with midrange qualities of YYY, etc.
 
I have a Zero also. I think Darrin has it spot on. It replaced a very fine Helikon Mono that I had for quite a few years. It definitely has a richness - I like the term meaty. The Helikon was very fine, though leaner (cost more a decade + ago than the Zero does now.).

Also using the Zero and love it. Heard it on Jeff Catalano's system at the Montreal show in 2013 and bought one from the distributor Robyn before i left the room :)

I did my research and spoke with multiple distributors of arms and cartridges and the as Schick 12" won the day. It sounds awesome with the mono. And it is pretty darn cost effective too
 
What type of arm would work best the Miyajima? I'm partial to SME arms but am curious if they would mate well with a mono cart.

The Zero I've purchased will be going on one of the VPI 10.5i arms, understanding it should work well on my VPI Classic 2. We shall see.
 
Thanks Mark. I hope you're right. Combined with the Sentec EQ-11 Phono and A23 SUT it should be very enjoyable in theory.

I'll report on the sound I'm getting once it arrives this week and after some break in time.
 
My Zero is also on a VPI 10.5 wand, on my Classic 3. I saved the 3D wand/arm it came with for my stereo cartridge. Didn't spend the dough on another 3D wand for the Zero. Stirling Trayle set everything up for me - works like a dream.

I have heard Stirling is the bomb when setting up analogue. Let's get that guru on audio shark.

So far so good!!

Just starting the break in and am only on my second LP but I'm thinking this mono cartridge is going to be a real pleasure going forward.

Something I noticed with this cartridge from the start (and granted, I'm only three records in now) is how well it reproduces the decay in instruments. Piano notes hang for just that little extra time and have added characteristics and tone color. Strings and horns have a more realistic bite and texture. More to come as I get familiar with its characteristic behavior....but only this far in, I gotta say I'm impressed!
 
Glad you like it. I think the miyajima BE and zero really captures the energy and drive of the music
 
Man this is a beautiful sounding cartridge!

I've got it set for 3.5g tracking force. Where do you guys run yours?
