A member asked me to share my experience with a Purifi amp I was curious to try, the Eigentakt designed by Bruno Putzey and company. Out of curiosity based on what I’ve read, I just bought one of these amps from a USA maker, VTV Amplifier in Ohio and it sounds amazing, perhaps as good as my tube amps which retail for many times more than the cost of this amp. This is the original Bruno-designed Eigentakt version. 425 wpc into 4 ohms and doubles down from 8 ohms. Running it direct from my Lumin X1 via balanced cables with no preamp using Leedh processing.

For around $1,000 I highly recommend that you try one of these amp with your Lumin or otherwise. I am literally blown away by the pure, crystalline tone coming out of my Reference 3A Reflector speakers. And what great control of the woofers. I bought this amp in anticipation of receiving a pair of vintage Sonus Faber Extremas which are arriving soon. I heard these speakers need gobs of power to sound their best and figured this amp might just be sufficient. At this price it’s at least worth a try.

We already know how good our Lumins are. I can’t believe how good the sound is from this amp, sans preamp, direct from the X1 via balanced cables. Here’s a review of the same amp I bought, from Doug Schneider of Soundstage.

I'm interested to hear another person's impressions of the Purifi Eigentakt and I'm not surprised that you are favorably impressed. Also, I agree with your advice to folks around hear ought to try a Purifi amp; for a grand it's in easy reach for those willing & able to spend 10's of thousands on components.

I'm running the Purifi myself in a VTV stereo amp with the VTV buffer and Sparkos SS3602 op amps. When I received my copy I as simply amazed by the sound on the Purifi. It is super clean, utterly free of grain and etch; on terms of resolution, transparency, and dynamics it is beats anything I'd heard before; in these respects it certainly beat my Pass X150.5 I've owned recently. Maybe as surprisingly it also beat the Hypex MC502MP I owned at the time.

Those many here privileged to own "megabuck" amps might have heard as good or better amps than the Purifi but they surely cost more that $1k.

I don't thing that Purifi is directly comparable with typical tube amps. It is utterly neutral and has no "warmth" of its own and the "body" you heard has to be on the recording you're listening to. If you want the tube characteristics, viz. smoothness, mid-range body, and holographic effect, I'll suggest the Purifi might still be a great choice downstream of a tube preamp. I've listened to my VTV Purifi directly from my Topping D90 DAC and from my tubed Sonic Frontiers Line 1 SE+; I generally prefer the latter by a small margin but direct is also very fine.

WOW.
Having heard your system with the Mastersound pre and power driving the Ref 3A reflectors the above comments are very impressive, as what I heard sounded really good.
And just imagine how this new amp will sound after it gets some more hours on it. Please keep us posted on the progress.
I will have to look into this piece of gear further.

Built the Eval 1 Purifi amp and has to be the best bass I have ever heard from my VR5 MKII. The current class D are closing the gap quickly.
 
Compared to a ARC REF75 using KT150 and a ROGUE ST100 as Feanor said below the Purifi comes across much more neutral. Probably to the point of being analytical sounding, mind you this does not translate to harsh or bright. I also have used a ARC REF5SE with it and it is a great match together. You definitely get the ARC flavor to shine through.

Then it's interesting perhaps that the Purifi had a Damping Factor of over 100,000 into 8 ohms :disbelief:
 
I am looking forward to receiving my NAD Purifi amplifier. I have been very curious to try one of these since hearing what many people have been reporting back on it and in such products as the NAD M33. With NAD and now T+A throwing their support behind the technology says a lot in my book!
 
I liked the Purifi Eval I built so much I bought a pair of Apollon Audio mono amps. Taking the Eval to a friends house tomorrow to demo for him. Maybe not Boulder or Gryphon level but my bank account is a lot happier.
