Here are some photos of the Job 225 and the fuse block. You can slide out the fuse holder without taking the cover off but I found it easier to push the post from the back on the inside. The drawer will pop open containing the fuses. The one shown in the photo is the one to replace. There is a spare in the front part of the drawer.

JOB225 mods....I love it!

After the JOB has been modified, what do we call it? A JOE225?

Thanks Joe! I think I'm on day 6 of my indecisiveness regarding which fuse to get. I know how you feel about the liquid nano supreme. I'm been exchanging emails with someone who said he didn't care for the Audio Magic. I'm torn between it and the Synergistics. AAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard Luka!

Thank you for joining. Which Synergistics fuse?

Luka,

I ordered one of these to try. This will be interesting. What are people telling you about the differences between these and the Audio Magic fuses?

From a friend advising me about fuses:

"What I have discovered is that the HiFI Tuning Supreme fuses are a bit more forward and lively than stock fuses, have a bit more extension on top, and more detail. If your system is in the neutral area, it may make things a bit edgy. If your system is warmer/richer, you may like them a lot. They are certainly directional, so you will have to experiment with them both ways. One way will sound better, the other will not. I also liked the Quantum fuses by Synergistic Research. They are also directional, even though it does not state so on the box. I found them to be a bit more ful l-bodied in the midrange, adding a pleasant "lushness" if your system is a bit edgy. They do roll the upper end of just a tad, but not too much. I seem to get a bit more depth and layering with these fuses. They are not as "punchy" or lively as the Supremes, but are just as lively as stock fuses. The third ones I tried were the 1st generation of those Liquid nano fuses about a year ago. I found them very rolled off in the highs, and did not like them. I see they now have a newer and more expensive version, which they claim as being better, which I have not tried. "

Also:

"I tried the AMR fuses about two years ago, and did not like them at all. If you think you have room in the tone department to go a bit more lively, the HiFi Tuning Supreme would be one I would try. It should give you a good improvement in energy, detail and extension on the top, and things will become more open sounding. I am guessing the Liquid Nano and Synergistic will be richer and more full-bodied. I hear the same differences between these fuses with whatever component I am using.
If you buy one warmer fuse and one lively fuse, and put them in different components, your tone may balance out. Be sure to change them one at a time, and listen to be sure they are each in the correct direction. Concentrate on the "dynamic energy" when checking directionality, and pay attention to the upper extension in the high frequency range where cymbals are. If it sounds less extended up there, and the music does not "jump out" at you in an unrestricted way, the fuse is probably backwards. I also get a bit of a midrange "nasal" tonal coloration with the Synergistic fuse when it is not correctly oriented. It make take a few tries to pick up on the differences, so be patient, and have fun!"

Joe, thanks for starting this thread! Very helpful! I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the fuse shootout!

Luka,

Thank you for the great descriptions.

Allen,

My pleasure. I hope the new fuses show up soon.

I just dropped a Quantum fuse into my DSD Dac but no chance to check it out yet.

Please let us know Wisnon. For me, it's either that, or the liquid nano supreme Joe raves about. I hear great things about both, but as long as they're in the correct system. (I guess that's with any component!).

hi guys im just new here on this site and i have never heard of fuse up grades before and finding it very interesting

as i have vintage gear i guess that my fuses are good as they are??, or do you think it may help the system out???

i have two large perreaux 200exr power amps from the late 70s that may benefit from fuse change out??

thanks
mike

Will do Luka.

I will also ask my pal to give me feedback as he has been using it for a month or 2 already.

Feedback:
Off the top of my head, much greater transparency, clarity and tone. Sound gets even fuller especially if you have it installed the right way. (See picture)

Burn in is a pain. It can be up and down for about 200 hours.
