I thought it might be nice to have a transport to have around for playing CD's or if someone brought one over to listen. It takes a good 5 to 10 minutes to rip, or, if my internet went down etc. It wasn't to the point I just had to run out and get one.
Sometimes patience pays off, I ran across a guy who wanted $400.00 for a Bel Canto CDT3, he still had the box and accessories. New it was close to $1800.00.
I hooked it up using AES/SBU. I began to wonder if any difference between the CD & transport compared to same CD ripped to my ACS10.
I just used one track, eventualy, Patricia Barbar's Silent Partner. Any difference was subtle, The ACS10 provided more micro/macro with stand up bass, Igotmore string information, vibrations sounds etc. The transport bass seemd to be a bit more visceral though, slightly. The muted trumpet seemed a bit sweeter with the transport. I would say for me, subtle difference with neither being a clear winner, perhaps someone may have a preference.
I was happy the transport did that well.
