I thought it might be nice to have a transport to have around for playing CD's or if someone brought one over to listen. It takes a good 5 to 10 minutes to rip, or, if my internet went down etc. It wasn't to the point I just had to run out and get one.

Sometimes patience pays off, I ran across a guy who wanted $400.00 for a Bel Canto CDT3, he still had the box and accessories. New it was close to $1800.00.
I hooked it up using AES/SBU. I began to wonder if any difference between the CD & transport compared to same CD ripped to my ACS10.

I just used one track, eventualy, Patricia Barbar's Silent Partner. Any difference was subtle, The ACS10 provided more micro/macro with stand up bass, Igotmore string information, vibrations sounds etc. The transport bass seemd to be a bit more visceral though, slightly. The muted trumpet seemed a bit sweeter with the transport. I would say for me, subtle difference with neither being a clear winner, perhaps someone may have a preference.

I was happy the transport did that well.

Congrats on your transport! I also picked up a lightly used MSB UMT V Signature Transport two months ago and I couldn’t be happier with it. When I realized that this transport surpassed my computer audio, I’ve been listening to it ever since. I also really like getting back to listening to the entire CD/SACD. It makes the listening experience more enjoyable for me.

Enjoy,
Ken

I think it all depends on the quality of the transport compared to the digital source you are using. When comparing my Aurender N100H to my old Oppo transport plugged into my Esoteric dac the N100H was the clear winner. When I replaced the Oppo with a P-02X Esoteric transport the difference was clear and the transport won hands down. At some point when I upgrade my N100H to a W20SE I could imagine different results but I'll have to wait on that one just a moment. :-)

I have an Esoteric Grandioso CD/SACD transport. Whilst I enjoy the ultimate sound of spinning a disc I find the convenience of streaming more appealing, despite the sound quality not being quite as good. If I sold the Grandioso I wouldn't miss it. I can't say the same for my DAC/streamer (which is also an Esoteric).

I can add an album to the cue and play it in it's entirety but to my surprise it did feel different going over and loadng the disc, sitting down and hitting play, maybe nostalgia for the ritual, who knows.
