Philly Area Dealer Suspending Operations

Interesting. That's my Wilson/D'agastino dealer. They were just ok for me. But when I was shopping there they had a steady stream of customers coming in. I would not have suspected this.

I seriously miss Soundex in the same general area.

Soundex was good, but after moving into that giant building and going heavily into home theater, it went all downhill. I visited several times but could never get anyone to help, so I took my money elsewhere. They tried to comeback on a smaller scale a year or two ago, but that fizzled out.

This closing is a pretty big impact given the brands involved. The remaining dealers in the area will scramble to pick up the brands left behind, but most of them are smaller and won't have the space or capital to keep things in house for demos.

Soundex was always good to me. I got along great with the owner's son, so maybe that had something to do with it.:P I didn't realize they tried to make a come back. I definitely would have at least visited them.

Agree about the rest of the dealers in the surrounding area. It's really tough to audition choice gear in the Central Jersey/Philly area.:( I guess I'm lucky I live near NY as well...

Dave/Allen...an hour south of Philly you can go to Overture Audio in Wilmington, DE. They view their service area as DE, MD, PA, and NJ. Here's a link: Overture Audio ? Home Theater ? DE, PA, MD & NJ

Don't know them personally but I know they advertise big in TAS and Stereophile and they have big time brands as well. fyi...in case you are interested in checking them out.

Thanks, Cyril. I know Overture. Went to them many years ago. They have a nice shop.

Overture is directly across the street from one of the HiFi House locations. I've been to both often. This is a shame. I just bought my Berkeley USB converter from HiFi last year. A buddy of mine just visited their showroom two weeks ago. No apparent sign of them closing. I wonder how many of their brands Overture will pick up.

yea thats too bad i visited a few times in the past. david lewis audio is ok too.
there is quest for sound in bristol(actually near bristol cant think of the name of the town)
overture is awesome i bought a pair of vandersteen 2ce's there maybe 15 years ago years ago, and almost bought a sota/sme setup from them too. think they still have my deposit.lol. great people ,great selection, good used stuff too. visited several times as i was in and out of the balanced audio factory down the road. oh btw NO SALES TAX IN WILMINGTON!!!! but yea for the most part central-south and west jersey sucks for audio dealers. but thats what north jersey and nyc are for. thats the only reason i would go to those places.lmao!!!
