Pass owners - lets see that great Pass gear you own!

Good eye. Those are actually the same cups that come with the Sound Anchors - they have some kind of synthetic fibers on the bottom so they can slide around. I'm keeping them there until I finalize the position of the S5s, then I'll switch to the stock Magico cups. :)

I've tweaked the speaker position several times since that photo was taken. And I haven't listened to the S5s on any other cups, so I have no basis for comparison.

Speaking of speaker position, what's the distance between the speakers? Would also love to know how far they are into the room and what your thoughts on them producing sound stage depth. The only time I've heard S5's was in a gigantic room with them something like 20 feet out into the room and the depth was incredible but some folks say they don't produce much depth (perhaps due to the wide baffle) in more typical positions/rooms.

Michael, I'm glad you got your babies back !

Did they sound even better the second time ?

It was last year that I had them picked up. Man does time fly. They sound sublime. They provide warmth, detail and nuance, and a familiarity that I can't shake despite auditioning some fabulous gear over the last year. For me, they are keepers and any speaker I purchase better damn well play nice or it's off to the scrapyard with them. Yes, I'm an internet tough guy .

I used the Cardas formula from the calculator on this page: Speaker Placement Calculator

You can plug in my room dimensions to see where my speakers are placed, or put in your dimensions and see where the various formulas would put your speakers in your room. :)

Depth is important to me so I always have my speakers well out into the room. I tried them closer to the back and side walls but the depth collapses, and the bass gets muddy.

I don't know the dimensions of your room so that's not very helpful. :)

I also can't use the Cardas formula in my room because no walls are parallel and dimensions aren't consistent.
