Oppo dilemma

I buy a huge percentage of my blu rays USED on Amazon. Usually a month or two after a disac comes out I an get it for less than half price. Books too.

True, nowadays you have some great sales on Amazon, with great Blu-ray titles sometimes for ten dollars, or fifteen for even better ones.
And the odd ones from yesteryear that nobody else than you like to have, for only five bucks (the price of a rental).

Criterion Blu-rays have their own sales too, and some titles are only twenty bucks!

* The costlier ones are from Disney, the 3D ones. ...For just one movie. ...Forty bucks for me here (tax included).
And those don't go much on sale, and only rarely, and not by a whole lot. ...And when they do you already gotdem.

"The more money you have, the less you should think" :D ...And the opposite is true, up to your own intellectual limits.

We touched on this before, it's amazing how the world has changed. i used to go Sam Goody, later Tower records, now all now gone. I never thought that I would be buying stereo equipment on line, sight unseen (at least unheard) but Amazon even has the SVS sub woofers! It so easy to sit and home, search for a good price and have something delivered to your door.

I do not buy dvd or blu rays because I never watch things twice. Does net flicks have a lot of blurays?

Amazon also carry the Oppo players.

* Amazon is such a force that many people are losing sleep over it!
And many other people (forum's members, and moderators, and administrators, etc.), other business now deal with them.

BUT! These same people are losing control in the fact that instead of encouraging their own business they are destroying it!
Do you want some amazing examples of that!

We still live in a world of disillusioned people, and totally blinded ones from their own blindness!
Some people are claiming that they embrace and encourage purchases from Amazon, and yet they freak out when giving links, and they'll even ban you for other stupid reasons!

The Internet is a huge technological communication business; and still yet you have a bunch of stupid people trying to define the rules! ...Or what their own idealism should be, and imposed upon us. They totally go against the current of common sense!
I got tons of examples like that; people from all over, and people who are supposed to promote but instead are killing themselves! How more stupid than that people could be!

And the administrators, and founders of some sites allow themselves to be killed by their own people! ...By the very same people working for/with them!

Hey listen; Amazon is our friend, and every friend of Amazon is our friend too. ...We should all be friends, and stop right now 'killing' each other!

I'm not talkin' 'bout here at the Shark aquarium; I'm talkin' 'bout over there, and over there too! ...And many many more places (businesses, audio/video websites, forums, blogs, ...) and all that technological soup of hardball jazz.

It seems to me that the only place worth living in peace is right here!

No media server, no cable, no satellite TV, no nothing but music and movies from the best digital physical mediums.

I just pick a movie, or music, and put it in one of my players that's all.

This too: When the video stores were all closing in my area, I acquired several Blu-ray movies for not much money; perhaps around 1,500 of those second-hand ones (anywhere from $3 to $10 a piece). ...But many others that I purchased brand new, I paid $30, $40, $50 and even more for some of them trilogies and all. ...$100 and more.

Some people buy a car for $500,000.
Me, I just rent my own chauffeur to drive me all around, even off-road, where that $500,000 car wouldn't even dare to go!

Like I said; we all have our own ways with our lives. ...At the end it's whatever makes us happy. :)
* I envy no one.

I stand in AWE !!!

That is quite a collection ..man...

I am on the opposite spectrum. I collect vinyl but I don;t even think of buying CDs or DVD's anymore (unless something is totally unavailable) . I have a voracious appetite for movies, shows, etc. so I utilize Amazon HD, Netflix, Hulu, HD cable, etc. for 95% of my watching. I know Blu-ray is "da bomb"..I have a matching Panasonic Blu-ray player with my Panasonic 65 Viera..but I can;t tell you the last time I watched a blu-ray.

But your point is well taken...very well taken. It is important to you, thus you are willing to spend on it as you will settle for nothing less. For others its cars or a $1000 bottle of wine. whatever makes us happy !!!

So I like your last post very much +1 :exciting:

Thx Rob!

Btw, I don't buy DVDs anymore; I stopped many years ago. ...And same with LPs (my last ones were used ones from about five years ago or so).

Blu-rays, CDs, SACDs, and cookies; that yeah I still buy.

And that means nothing more than living today in a digital/physical world. ...For movies and music that is.
And for my entire life before it I was completely living in an analog world; still occasionally, for good memory/fun sake.

Oppo is the sh1t! :) ...And VPI has a new turntable: The VPI Classic Direct

Is that table the one with the 3D printer made arm ?

I agree, there is ALOT of opportunity in the digital world...funny how what is important to different people. For me, its quantity of source. I do all in Hi_Def but not to your level. What is important to me is quantity of content. That's why I have Netflix, Amazon, Hulu , Xbox music ..etc...None of them match your Blu-rays of course but they give me good definition with almost limitless content.

Thanks for sharing a bit about "you"...I like learning about AS people...

Ha!

Some people ask me: "Bob, should I get the 105 or is the 103 good enough?"

Then this nice fellow has a JVC stereo integrated amplifier, without HDMI jacks. ...So, before HDMI was invented.
What would you say to him? {His goal is to mainly listen to CDs, in stereo.}

You got it! ...And that's exactly what I recommended to him too. :)

Thx Rob!
