Opgrade

Back when I had an Auralic, I did this many times on 3 different devices due to constant issues with playback. Both with Apple and Samsung devices. It drove me knuckin' futz! Turned out that it wasn't an issue with any of the devices or the streamer itself, it was a communication issue caused by low signals on the wi-fi. I ended up getting a mesh network and that issue was instantly solved. Now, the issue rarely happens (maybe once a year). Even when I sold off the Auralic and got the Lumin, both my Qobuz and Tidal accounts (music selections, playlists, preferences, etc.) were unaffected.

Again, I do caution you. I do not have any locally stored files and with that said, if you do? You may very well lose some things. I wouldn't know, as I have never used one. You obviously wouldn't lose the music, but maybe the lists, playback history and whatnot.....but that's just an assumption.

FWIW, I even cancelled Tidal for a year or two and uninstalled it. When I started Tidal back up again after all that time? It was as if I had never left Tidal to begin with. All of my prior selections and whatnot were still there, as if I had continued with the account the entire time, never cancelling their service.

Mine is actually stored on both Tidal and Qobuz, respectively (each have their own respective playlists). The UX1 just pulls the playlists from both streaming services and plays whatever I command it to play, from any of my playlists on either streaming service. I'm not quite sure what Peter is referring too, unless he is talking about local file storage access memory.

There are also apps that can copy the playlists for you. I haven't used them, but I have a friend that has used them from time to time. Not sure if they have a limit of songs they can transfer/copy though, as I haven't ever had the need.

So, is my music playlist stored on the Lumin app or on Qobuz? Reinstall Lumin or Qobuz?

If you use Lumin app to play Qobuz, you're using Lumin app playlists.

If you use Qobuz app to Qobuz Connect to Lumin hardware you're using Qobuz account playlists.

Interesting. I use the Lumin app for both Tidal and Qobuz....but come to think of it, I don't recall ever having any issues since getting the mesh network and the Lumin (other than once). I could have sworn when I did have the issue, I uninstalled the Lumin app on my Samsung (either that, or my phone), reinstalled it and it there were no issues after that.....with no loss of any of my playlists on either of them.

That said, at the same time, I was also using a Linn app (Qobuz connect hadn't come out yet) to play music through my laptop in another room while in the office, via Qobuz. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Tidal already had Tidal Connect for a while at that point. I don't know if it makes any difference or not, but I also had 6 devices in the house that could operate the stereo.

But with that said, I'll bow out now. I'd hate to be the one responsible for you losing 10K plus songs. I'm just sitting here scratching my head though, as none of this makes any sense to me based upon my experience.

Maybe get another device altogether and see if everything is still visible? If it is, then you should have no issues doing a factory reset on the old device. The Lumin app would simply use that remote as another access point, if you will.

I am very concerned about losing all my playlist/songs.

I just tried another much smaller, earlier version/model iPad, and the scroll bar does not freeze up like my main one. Next, I am thinking of letting the main iPad battery run down completely before charging and then trying it again.
If that proves unsuccessful then I guess, I'll have to buy another iPad.

If anyone has a better solution, please chime in.

What the heck!
Gulp...So, I am about to uninstall the Lumin app and then reinstall it....

Sucess! So far reinstall went ok, playlist/ songs still seem to be there. Whew!

Now to see if it freezes up again.
Next post...

I feel your pain.

Have you tried updating the Samsung? Last ditch effort would be to try a factory reset and start from scratch with that unit. If that doesn't work? Time to look for a new one. Delegate that one for doing other tasks or use it for target practice for the trash can.

Tom,

I have done everything, reboot, factory reset, delete Lumin/reapply Lumin. I am now currently trying to get the battery to its lowest point to shut off, then I will recharge it.

But it looks like it's a gonner, and I must shoot it for my sanity. (Just kidding).

BTW, I did just order a refurbished Apple iPad.

Samsung tablet is still hanging up! I'm thinking of some swear words right now...

1. Instead of buying another tablet, please try using Lumin app on mobile phone first - and check whether your mobile phone exhibits the same problem of Samsung tablet. If it does, it may have something to do with the network infrastructure, or Lumin app itself, or the configuration of Lumin app/hardware.

2. If you use Qobuz, please try Qobuz app to Qobuz Connect to Lumin hardware, from your Samsung tablet and your mobile phone. This way you can eliminate any potential issue with Lumin app.

3. You also sent an e-mail to us. I can either continue to discuss with you in private if you prefer, or respond here in public.

I have tried a few other devices, and they do not freeze up like the iPad. I have bad eyesight and the iPad with a larger screen works best for me.
I just drained the battery on the iPad and then performed a factory reset. (didn't change things)

I cannot figure out how to install Quboz connect. I'm old.
And I have yet to be able to install the Lumin app on my laptop.

Discuss in private or on this thread either way, I could use the help.

If your Samsung tablet freezes but other devices running Lumin app does not, please reboot your Samsung, if you have not already done so. There also may be a hardware fault or not having enough memory with the Samsung.

To use Qobuz Connect, update Qobuz app to the latest, and make sure Lumin firmware is 19.x . In Qobuz app, play something, tap the speaker icon, choose Lumin.

I just got a new Apple iPad, and downloaded the Lumin app.
And that unit is also freezing up after about 15 minutes of playing time.
I just don't know what to do anymore.

Please power cycle the whole network infrastructure starting from the router, WiFi mesh, access points, network switches, Lumin, tablets, phones, etc.

It is important to differentiate whether the Lumin hardware freezes, or Lumin app freezes if you are playing from Lumin app play queue.

In case of Lumin hardware freezes, check that the front panel progress circle stops moving.

In case of Lumin app freezes, please bring up the tablet/phone task list, swipe away to kill Lumin app, then relaunch it. And use a different device (e.g. phone) to see if the same freeze occur.

Again, please try Qobuz app.

Thank you I will try all that. I may need help with the Qobuz install though. Is it a download or something already on the Lumin app?

wklie,

Well, I deleted the Lumin app and powered off all equipment overnight. Still the iPad freezes up.
So, then I got a new Modem, and set that up.
Powered back on everything, and the iPad still freezes up.

Now this is with 2 separate iPads. One Apple, and one Samsung. 2 different Modems, many times killed the Lumin app and reinstalled it. Same- result, still freezing up after about 15-20 minutes.

On the Lumin player itself, the display appears to be correct, the time shows and the track and correct song. And the remote control is responsive.

I just can't get the iPad(s) to operate without freezing up. The only way around it is to close all the tabs and relaunch the Lumin app, and again, it will play another 15-20 minutes before freezing up.

At this point, I've got to believe there is something wrong with the Lumin app.

Extra Info:
And.. I have Qobuz on the iPad and can hear the music on the iPad, but I can't seem to get Qobuz connect to play with/on the Lumin.

Been a while, but there should be a little speaker icon on the bottom right of the screen. If you click on the speaker icon, it should pull up the available devices that you can stream on. Just choose the Lumin and you should be good to go. If you have a laptop, try it on that first (easier). The phone/iPad may be a little different but it works the same way.
