NY Audio Show at Rye Town Hilton 11/6/15

Chris, I think this was taken in Care Audio's room, which means it's an Ampex R2R.

Bruce/Joe, how did this room sound w the R2R playing?

Def a nagra t audio but i have not seen a version like this one before. Diff controller board and also diff rear grille. Interesting piece for sure.
Chris

Ok. If that's Sunii's room, I have to ask him about.

Chris, know much about Ampex?

Bruce - terrific pics. Can I bring you along to all the shows I go to? [emoji6]

Hi Allen,
I am really only familiar with the Nagra RtR decks. And of the Nagra's, really only familiar with the IV-S (w QGB) and the TAudio, both decks I use. If you're looking for tape expertise or more info on Nagra, AMPEX or other RtR (especially Studer), Ki Choi is your guy in NAmerica. Of course there are many other tape enthusiasts on the forums, including Myles, Larry T, Mike L, Mike B, etc. here at AS but lots more at The Tape Project forum and WBF's RtR section.
You thinking of jumping in this pool? :)
Chris

Found a bit of info on that RtR deck. It's a Nagra T - instrumentation recorder. More specialist version of the T Audio for niche scientific, aerospace and military applications.

Thanks, Chris. No, just curious is all. Just got into vinyl so want to build out my knowledge and collection there first. Maybe for a later day...

I absolutely love the Volti Vittora. Even more stunning to look at in person. Greg makes awesome speakers.

And Triode Pete was wonderful from Triode Wire Labs. The combo was superb.

It was GREAT to meet some fellow AudioShark members!

Fantastic pics, Bruce!!

Joe, I had no idea we live so close together... we need to have a GTG for some Music Appreciation!!

Thanks to all who attended the NYAS in Rye Brook! We were SRO (Standing Room Only) for most of the show!

Pete,

Thank you so much. Your room with Greg and Vinnie was standing room only all the time.

You guys were the absolute best hosts too. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and comfortable.

That was a destination system for sure.

Some feedback posted today from 6moons...

Triode Wire Labs/Vinnie Rossi Audio/Volti Audio. I’ve gotten to know the Volti Audio Vittora speakers quite well, having heard them over several years at RMAF paired with Border Patrol electronics. I have always been very favourably impressed. At this show, the Volti were partnered with Vinnie Rossi’s LIO modular system. Configured here as tube preamplifier, DAC and phono stage for $6’775, the LIO fed Vinnie’s new VR120 ultracapacitor-powered amp ($4’995 stereo amp, $9’595 for a pair of monos). I must say that the system exhibited the same wonderful rich tone it did with the Border Patrol tube amps. The Vittora speakers were demoed as I heard them before, with the separate ELF extended low frequency cabinet ($25’000 for the five-piece set) and Marchand Electronics MB42 crossover/power amp ($1’900). Triode Wire Labs provided the cabling, showing that this excellent sound could be attained with very affordable cables. Kudos. I had a lot of fun here especially listening to the wonderful selection of premium/audiophile vinyl on the Palmer turntable, Vinnie’s personal unit. This may have been my most enjoyable room at the show. Vocals were just sublime as demonstrated on record after record. The Staple Singers [Stax APP 4116-45] were a particularly memorable experience.
