NuVista 800's in the shop

Absolutely no contest. The 800 is miles better.
 
So Mike, now that we've returned to the subject of the original thread, I was wondering if you had tried the NuVista 800 with your Sonus fabers? I'm wanting to replace my integrated for my Cremona M floorstanders and was interested in your views as to whether my speakers would be sympatico with the NuVistas (I realize there is quite a difference between the Cremona M's and the Stradivari, but humor me). Chris
 
Chris - I haven't tried it with the Strads. I have the NuVista beast tucked in my rack and combined with that, have all my cables on cable risers upstairs (which can be a bit of a pain). My guess is that it would be a superb match. The 800 has the sonic qualities that are quite similar to my Pass amps.

Mike: I knew my request was probably a bit much - asking you to haul either a very heavy amp or very heavy speakers. This amp has me so intrigued and seems to tick off every one of my requirements and preferences (I had thus far been frustrated by all of the competition which never got it perfect). Yes its expensive, but certainly less expensive than separates of the same quality. So now I have to haul myself up to Design Audio in Tyler TX to hear it for myself (I'm in Houston, a barren wasteland when it comes to high end audio dealers). Thanks and enjoy!

Mike, nice looking piece! I been a long time Musical Fidelity fan and for the most part there gear in the last ten years have been built pretty rock solid. I currently still have my KW-500 Int. Amp and I had a Tri-Vista but sold it because they were prone to certain issues I didn't want to deal with. So far the KW-500 is still kicking and the sound is great! I see you have some Dali Epicons which are a nice speaker, I have a pair of Ikon 2 MKII in my office but my main flavor for my main system is some Dynaudio Confidence C2, which I just recently am upgrading to the newer version after enjoying these for 8 years. Also a huge Pass fan as well!

Outstanding! That KW-500 is a sweet sound. The Epicon 8's are fantastic sounding. Hopefully you can come over and listen some time.

So here's the question for David at Design Audio Video before I get around to visiting you in Whitehouse (I'm in Houston). I had been interested in the Accuphase E-470 (and its predecessor, the E-460) and at the same price point am now interested in the NuVista 800. You carry and have heard both. What are your impressions? My system includes Sonus Faber Cremona M floorstanders. Thanks, Chris.
 
Chris, I'm sure David will chime in here at some point. Having heard both myself, I would have to give the edge to the Nu Vista. I know Joe has tried the Nu Vista with his Strads, and loves the combo.

But the best way for you to decide is to hear it for yourself. Both are great pieces. I'm not sure David still has the Accuphase integrated in his shop anymore, but he might.
 
The NuVista on the Strads sounds great. I really like it a lot. I think it's still breaking in but so far, amazing.

I'm afraid to try my NuVista 800 on my Strads!

On my Dali Epicon 8's its a wonderful musical synergy.

I have tried the Accuphase E-560 (on different speakers, but same room). Going by fickle audio memory, I think I would prefer the NuVista 800.

I had a lengthy conversation with David tonight - he was terrific and so kind to call and spend the time with me. A road trip to hear the NuVista is in the cards for the New Year.
