Nothing like a good cable discussion....

been there, done that ......... I'm fully aware that there can be a difference in 'wire',

Yep, there can be differences! All cables and cords are not good cables and cords. But all good cables and cords sound about the same and they don't cost a ton of money.

And of course, those differences are easier to measure than to hear.

been there, done that ......... I'm fully aware that there can be a difference in 'wire', my beef is the absurd pricing on some and those that fall for said cables only to convince themselves not through science but rather subjective biases. When folks opt to spend serious $$ on wire before addressing room issues it's pretty clear they have no clue.

In the end, it's your hobby and your money so be happy !
I'm sorry I thought your room was done and you had a system that was 'maxed' out meaning you can't go with bigger speakers - power is more than enough etc. But you want that sound you have and only want to make it better. With the right choice of synergy you can make it happen. Also how much is too much especially with that point? I would agree a 20K power cord would not do a whole lot for a 10-20K system. It's all relative.

exactly, that's my point and the operative phrase is 'they don't need to cost a ton of money'

my room is done, my system complete. As for a 20k power cord, I can't imagine anyone that stupid.

On the bright side, there is something for everyone [emoji851]

It is always easy for someone to say that you should address room issues. However, it is not always possible. My system is in our family room with lots of big windows. leather and wood furniture and wood floors with an area rug. I would love to use room treatments but I would have a very unhappy wife. She is already putting up with my door panel Magnepans, a 6 shelf rack for my gear, large flat screen TV and monitor speakers with an AVR. It is not perfect but I have tailored my cables to tame brightness and sibilants. Even my gear has been picked for warmth. Cables have made a very noticeable difference in my system.

Really funny. I think in Transparent cables this little round-wound element in the enclosure box costs maybe 5-6 K.

A bit eye-opening, as I find.

What amazes me me is that anyone would be surprised at this ............... just how much does that 'turd' speaker cable cost ?

It does not surprise me that there are cheap parts in those boxes attached to those cables. Audio cables are way over priced.

Not surprised cause I never cared to think about the box until now since its illustrated...OMG

I do like my Shunyata. The sigma series interconnects and speakers cables are great! The Anacondas before that had good points but also had some bad points. I used the anaconda interconnects but did not use their speaker cables.

IMO

The best bang for your buck by a long shot is the Triode Labs Wire. WARNING tho - they are not a tone control. Only what your equipment sends.

Really? That is what I expect from a cable, and felt that was what Shunyata did. Just pass the signal undistorted from source to sink. Personally, I think it is STUPID to use cables as tone controls, but that’s just me.

I'm with Jock on the Triode Wire Labs cables as I use a full loom minus the SPDIF cable in my Main system. Honest quality built cables at "reasonable" prices.
