Nothing like a good cable discussion....

Took a peek, at least SG wasn't talking about dishes again.:)

This however, caught my eye and I found it 10x less boring

I don't see what the problem is. Either you hear the difference cables can make or you don't. And if you hear a difference is it better or worse and are they in your budget if better.

Back when I had a much lesser system speakers cables made the most difference followed by interconnects then power cords. Now the power cords make the most significant difference with speaker cables the least.:disbelief:

all of which proves how silly 'wire' nonsense can really be !

They do make an audible difference, audio cables. In particular the ultra expensive ones.
Everyone notice the difference AC power cords make.

If only I could afford those ultra expensive cables my ears would be happier.
One day I will get there...Audio nirvana. It's the journey, with the money, ...all @ play, like sweet honey.

I hope nobody watched the entire video, because he didn't take any measurement.
All what you have are his subjective words.
And all what you need to do is verify for yourself, with your own ears.

And for measurements? You just need someone who has the measuring tools, and in conjunction with your own ears you make your choice, you spend your money, and you enjoy life for you, and nobody else.
Because, in this hobby, you are all alone. If you are not it means life is fun living socially while the music show is playing...Led Zeppelin live.

To me the question about cables is very simple: there is no high end performance without good conductors of the signal.

............................................
Just curious have you tried better cables?
A listener like 'Mikado463' is not going to hear the difference without some help. Someone will need to take him by the hand and demonstrate how a passage sounds with one cable and the other. Then you both leave the room while the cables are randomly swapped. When you both return, you again show him how the cable sounds.

been there, done that ......... I'm fully aware that there can be a difference in 'wire', my beef is the absurd pricing on some and those that fall for said cables only to convince themselves not through science but rather subjective biases. When folks opt to spend serious $$ on wire before addressing room issues it's pretty clear they have no clue.

In the end, it's your hobby and your money so be happy !

Better yet would be a slightly extended home demo. Put the new ones in and leave it for a week or so. Then put the originals back in. If you miss the new ones you have a winner. If not return them. What you can't do swap them every few hours. I say that because there are so many things you may gain or lose that will not be obvious like a punch in the nose and will take a while.
