Well, my old trusty MB E230 is now fast approaching 5.5 years and do show signs being an "old workhorse".
Went to local MB Showroom and vanity soon took over the better part of me. I started out looking at the latest entry level E Series, and soon, I was overwhelmed and bowled over by the E400 (W212) Avantgarde with AMG Sports Package, which included the Panoramic Glass Roof and all the nice little AMG kits. Overall cost me a S$342k (US$272k). To entice me further, the Sale guy (who also happen to be an old friend) said this model will be the replacement of the E500. Oh well, I was sold.
Specs are impressive (by my standards) as I have never, ever driven, much less own such a powerful car before. I guess I am nuts to do so.
Number Of Cylinders/Arrangement: 6/V
Displacement in CC: 2996 (Bi-Turbo)
Rated Output in KW (HP) at RPM: 245(333)/5500
Rated Torque (NM at RPM): 480/1400-4000
Acceleration (0-100 km/h): 5.4s
Took possession of the car on Saturday 5th April. After 2 weeks of using it, I must say, its a REAL nice car. Power on the tap yet very subtle and nice, with all the nice bells and whistles. The hifi is indeed superb and I managed to squeeze in an iPod (oldie 150GB version) and presto, I have 630 CD's on the tap from my iTunes collection (all high-rez by the way).
Managed to find a close image of the car I am buying. Actual colour Palladium Silver and upholstery black. So sharing my joy and pride!
Compared to some of the folks in this forum who had "super cars", this is like entry stuff, but to me, its a purchase of a lifetime.
I suppose I am at the tail end of my hifi journey and so this is one BIG spark that lifted me up after all these months of hard work. So, sharing with you guys my joy and happiness. For sure, I am no speed demon, but its always nice to know there's power at the tap of the foot on the pedal.
Cheers!
