New Rel planar sub

Subs seem to be an area where there is still room for pretty vast improvement both in technology and also how people struggle to set them up properly.

I'm going to be experimenting with a 15" horn loaded sub to see how it compares to my 16" SVS.
 
that looks very cool. I can't wait to hear one. REL has been coming up with some interesting products. They have a sub with multiple woofers to act as a stack, 6-pack.

These look wireless. So, stacking or moving them looks to give one a lot of flexibility.
 
Looks interesting. I wonder how they work with semi-low efficiency British speakers. I also wonder how much space they require. Unfortunately, I have rather limited wall space in my small music room used for both listening and guitar playing. Have to also check into pricing on them.
 
Geez - I got my hopes up, thinking that planar subs meant planar subs...

Interesting to see them on top of those little carts. The carts must be optional, right? I can't imagine the subs being heavy enough to need them.
 
8” driver with a 10” passive radiator? Sorry REL, that’s not a real subwoofer. It may go low, and it may go loud, but it won’t go low and loud. The laws of physics beat marketing every time. :)

I don't see anything in the literature or video making the claim that it produces "low and loud" as a marketing claim. It may be worth waiting until the product is available for evaluations before one dismisses or rejects RELs newest sub line.
 
We know it wouldn't be optimum but I can see a home theater set up without any free standing speakers or sub. It's probably a niche product but still a cool option to have out there.

There have been in-wall subs. Which would be a cleaner way to go in the case of a HT with wanting to hide speakers. I suppose the REL is an option for those who just want to add without so much construction. Several companies offer on-wall speakers as well. The Monitor Audio with the picture motif. Good to have options

the issue in my opinion is most subs is set up period. The second is that many subs aren't really very good or even aimed at audio but rather to home theater. They are almost never positioned correctly and most do not have the proper controls to integrate them.
One of my rules in everything is that all things are not the same.eaning that all subs in this case are not created equal.
Buyers need to be careful what they purchase. It is better to have nothing than a sub that will not work with your speakers and in your room.
