New photos of Randy's system ...

Looks great! The minimalist form
Factor of the T+A equipment is very easy on the eye! Please give us some info on the amp!

I have had a few people ask me about my HQPlayer settings and how I get it to up-sample all my music to DSD512. The following screen shots are my settings. I have Roon and HQPlayer both running on my computer/custom built Windows 10 Pro Server. Roon is the controller and user interface, HQPlayer handels up-sampling and is the playback engine. Everything I have is up-sampled to 24.6! This is DSD512 with a base clock of 48.... I am hoping that these screenies make since and give the answers to your questions...

Randy...thank you for the screen shots...super helpful. Is there a way to disable the volume knob on the main HQ player screen? Or do you just keep it on max?

Congratulations on the new amp Randy! T+A make some great gear.

On the HQPlayer volume settings, you can keep Vol min at -6dB as you have right now. Keep Vol max to 0dB. In software upsampling you can have a few samples overshoot so back off on the volume dial by -3dB to give you some headroom. This is recommended by Jussi the developer. The software volume control is like a "fine control" and should never be set to max for this reason.

It should also never be used as the main volume control (just in case someone is thinking of it).

Randy

Congrats with the new amp.

How much of an improvement did it make and in what areas?

Take care !

It is still breaking in, however I have noticed some areas where I enjoy the improvements. Some of this is being discussed in the T+A thread (the link is in 2 posts above :)).

Thank you! The T+A gear definitely seem to be very well built, and sound excellent.

Now that the system is complete (hopefully for a while :)).... here are the latest photos...

A tour of the loft library :D...

It's really really different from what you started with buddy.

Congrats!

ps: what software are you using on that tablet?

Hey Michael,

Long time my friend. Yea, it has changed a bit :D... really liking what it has evolved to.

on the music server I am running Roon & HQPlayer. The tablet is a Surface running Windows 10. It runs Roon Controller software to control the music server, and remote desktop to do any kind of maintenance or configuring on the server.

Wonderful system Randy. I whet through your 22 pages thread. You and your wife have been through quite an evolution in the last couple of years.

Yes indeed it has. I think it is just about there though (or best I can afford to get :)). I am now in the process of doing some more fine tuning. I had a nice discussion with Jim Smith and I am now reading his book on the subject. I did flip the room, and then had to flip it again t make my wife happy (massive amount of work). Being configured with the front side loft backing the system does sound better though.
