New Magico Speakers

Great pictures Myles.

I like the stand they're using for the front end gear; it looks like a carpenter’s workbench.

And maybe a little less machining? I also have to think there's a sonic/speaker resonance advantage to the use of carbon fiber. After all, Alon designs everything using CAD and that is also used to predict cabinet issues. Very powerful software.

The Wilson Benesch ACT speakers I was using while I was waiting for my NOLA KOs to arrive were made out of carbon fiber. They not only looked really cool, they sounded damn good.

These look considerably different from the earlier images of the M-Project. The chamfered edge on the top plate and the silver/aluminum outrigger supports. Earlier photos show the speaker sitting on footers directly on the floor similar to the S5 speaker.

I also noticed the used of the new Transparent Audio Magnum Opus speaker cables. The curved/sexy carbon network boxes kind of match the curves of the M-Project speaker. I don't see Transparent cables paired with Magico speakers very often.

Very cool looking speaker. Must sound amazing.

I used Transparent speaker with my Magicos. I think the Magicos really showed that the Transparent Cables were getting long in the tooth particularly in the areas of noise floor, resolution and dynamics. Little too smoothed out and you could really hear where MIT and the Skogrand were quieter and allowed more information to pass through.

I've tried to get the new cables for review but so far, haven't heard back from Josh. :(

Boy these new Magicos aren't as pretty as the early images we saw. In fact I'd say they are no nicer than the Q series. Such a shame when the S series looks so good.

Disappointing.

Thanks Myles. What Transparent model did you have?

Well we know pictures don't always do justice! Wait until you see it up close and personal! ;)

Well, I'm happy with the way the Q series looks - all business . But then I think the Kuzma 4Point is the best tonearm available today so there must be something in industrial design that appeals to the Goth in me. To those who appreciate cutting edge engineering , manufacturing complexity and design intricacy, Magico's Q series are irresistible.
