New Luxman d-10x sacd/cd-player

Local dealer just delivered and I was told I'm the first, the next would be in October. After more than 2 months of waiting, it's finally in my rack and complete my retirement setup. First, its triple boxed. The build is exemplary and the looks and feel is simply luxurious and beautiful. After plugging in, with the Roon using the Lux DAC, the experience is simply beyond my expectation. Plus the "Green", "Purple/Blue" for the different MQA decoding ... I'll post more of the machine and the entire system in a later post after I have gotten over my "new system" syndrome. Cheers!

Congratulations! It’s always exciting when new gear arrives

Congrats JS! Nice system. Wish you many years of happy listening in retirement.

Once again Greg, our taste are alike... Always loved Harbeth delicious delicacy and my favorite room at the Montréal audio show 2 years ago was featuring the Stenheim Alumine Two SE who sounded truly impressive (and scrary for a bookshelf).

Their amazing clarity must pair well with Luxman.

I got my Luxman D-10x yesterday, and have been running it since then. Oh god, they are so damn good. Very musical. It is bit analytical but still very coherent and seductive to listen. Both CD (MQA CD, SA-CD) and roon streaming via USB sound awesome. I have become a Luxman fanboy. They pair very good with my Luxman 590AXII. I will have more when it is all broken in.

Give it a week or so. Those capacitors need time to form. Or the ears need to reform.. :D

Unless they intentionally took a different direction with the D-10x voicing, it should blossom into a very analog sounding unit. My D-06u also sounded a bit mechanical and analytical first few days and then started to bloom. It is anything but overly analytical now.

Hi Serge,
Yes, I am planning to run it for few days with amp turned off. Lets see how it breaks in.

Awesome. Congratulations on the D-10x

Hi Jerry,
How is your Luxman D-10x sounding now after breaking in. Mine is still breaking in. Wanted to hear your inputs of how much of a change to expect. Mike please free to step in for your input on your listening at home. How long or how many hours did it take to break in ?

I have about 150 hours on mine and I think it has been fully broken it, but there are moments when certain details of reference tracks still startle me (in a good way)!

What did you had before the D-10x? I think you had another Luxman and maybe a Chord? Is the Lumin new as well?

Hi Simon - I had a Luxman D-08u with Chord DAVE. The D-10X DAC performs better IMO. Lumin is new. It replaced my Aurender. I wanted a Roon compatible piece.

Right Greg, I forgot you had the D-08u also... In my memory you had the D-06... Would you say the new D-10x is a departure with the new chipset or does it have the Luxman sound still?

Great. I have about 75 hrs on it and they seem to be opening up and have become less analytical and less bright. Soundstage is getting bigger and more holographic. By the way, using roon have you tried DSP settings. I have liked PCM2 the most. Interestingly even though Luxman says it does DSD 512, my streaming through CX via DoP, the max DSD is 256. How can I get DSD 512 via roon to Luxman D-10x?

Resistance is futile. We’ve been using it on demo all week. People have been really loving it and asking lots of questions. It won’t fool you into thinking it’s a turntable like the D-08u could. The D10x has more detail, separation, without any hint of edge or harshness or “bite”.

I think someone would have a hard time vs the K-03XD. If you want a pinch more detail, the K-03XD would be it, but the D-10X is so much more detailed than the D-08u which was my favorite. Would be a really difficult choice. I need to bring the Luxman home to do a better shootout.
I like the sound of the Marantz SA7S1.
Now I listen K03XS.
Never listen D10...sorry

That video, I could not tell the difference using Magnetic Planar headphones between the !0X and K03XD. Just impossible... back and forth switching between the two time points, no difference...for me.
Until a week ago I owned an upgraded K03xs SE. It was just too transparent combined with leading edge harshness. I returned it to my hifi guy. He's going to work on it damping changing up to film caps etc. In the meantime I had acquired another, a Luxman D06u in my Aussie system.
I was hoping this vid would help separate the two killers, Esoteric vs Luxman, basically not really.
I'm still on the hunt... and also keen to know what the mods do the my K03xs SE.
