I'm eyeing the new SHL5's. I think they call it the "plus"??

I'm tempted to check out the new plus model. The new one has the Raidial woofer from the 30 and 40. Should be nice.

Get them ~!!!! If you don't like it ? bring them in when you come in summer time. I will buy them from you for my bedroom for sure.
 
Paul is always thinking. Too bad they will not ship for months. :(
 
I'm keenly interested in the SHL5 Plus. I will take a look at things when they become available in September.

Good to know Bob, cause I love em too. I remember hearing Proacs with all tube BAT gear in the Analog room at Soundex back in the day. Always one of my favorite rooms there.
 
I have no doubt that the SHL5 plus could be one of if not their best speakers. Show reports have been outstanding. This is getting great.

I had a pair of ProAc response 2.5's for 15 years powered by Audio Research tube amplification and the sound was sublime.

Now I have a pair of Harbeth SHL5's powered by McIntosh tube amplification and the sound is equally sublime.

British speakers and tube power is a match made in heaven:audiophile::heart::audiophile::heart:
 
I love proac speakers. Way under rated. They disappear and image and project female voices as good as any i have heard
 
Just located a Proac dealer about 80 miles away from me in North New Jersey. Another good option for me to look into, but the Harbeths look better :)
 
I haven't heard Harbeths. I remember thinking the proacs didn't sound like a ported speaker. Very fast and tight bass.
 
I loved ProAc of the old gen. The new ones don't do it for me.
DeVore Gibbon series sound like the old ProAc. Magnificent.
Still, nothings beats the mids beauty of Harbeth imho.

As a former Harbeth owner it's nice to see this forum pop up. I'm still patiently waiting the Spendor and Rega forums. I really love the Spendor sound.
 
I think...whatever else may come and go; I will have some pair of Harbeths (currently 30.1s; formerly, Compact 7s...and P-3s started it all) for LIFE (and that's saying something, from a box-swapper like myself ;))
 
Wow! That certainly say a lot Chris. I seriously miss my 30.1's and I am really looking forward to the 40.1's. Looks like the Super HL5 plus speakers are getting great reviews. I want to hear them too.

I have reservations, about the SHL5s driver array. A super-tweeter; is it 1970, all over again? ;)

J/K; balanced good sound, is all you need...however AS gets there. I just wish, it were more of a "traditional" 3-way design.
 
While I would love to hear a Harbeth, the closest dealer to me is over six hours away. So if I want a speaker in that genre I'm afraid I will have to go with what I know plus the opinion of "trusted" PF reviewer Bob Neill and rebuy the current version of the Reynaud Offrande. Bob when he was an equipment reviewer went from Spendor to Harbeth to Reynaud. He had so much faith in Reynaud that he became the US distributor when they cut ties with Fanfare. I actually owned the "review sample" Offrande pair that with the help of Anthony Perrotta I had shipped straight from Fanfare. Selling them was a mistake and I hope to buy the current version later in the year. To buy a similar Harbeth I would have to buy used from Agon or US Audiomart with little discount off of original price and then resell them at a loss if they were not my cup of tea. A shame that a city of 350,000 people is a complete audio wasteland.
