New Harbeth Forum

He said he needs a couple days heads up if you want to make an appointment. He has P3s now and hopes to get a pair of 30.1s soon.

Is the Harbeth is not popular in State at all ? What kind of dealer only has a pair of P3 ? Need a couple of days head up to audition the tiny speakers ? and why took so long to get Joe's pair ? WOW...

well i may not know much but i do know lakewood n.j. first off its a weird town to begin with , and i wouldnt really do anything there except drive through it. i would not think anything good is in that audio shop. i cant even believe they have harbeth there. last itme i looked for a store that was supposedly in lakewood they had a website and a way to take your money but i went there and there was no actual store but a abandoned warehouse. next this is what you see when you drive through. its the hasedic capital of new jersey. no offense to any hasedics but i wouldnt think they were much of a stereo people. but i could be wrong.

Paul,

Trying to find a dealer with Harbeth in stock was tough, let alone having them on display. I was wiling to wait. :)

I do not get why the international distribution of Harbeth is so tiny....

They are just the best speakers on earth and yes they are an incredible bargain.

BTW, for once France is Champion. Our importer makes the lowest prices on earth and I did not know it until yesterday !
I bought my 40.1 as a demo model form a dealer in Germany and I would have paid the very same price for a new pair in France !

As much as I love them but they are not for everyone. Couple of my friends never understood why I was so crazy about them. They think it was colored ( I do partly agree but once you get hooked its hard to get out of ), laid back and voice wasn't real.

Well....Hope they get bigger in state as well.

Paul,

I agree. Some people do not get into them at all.
To me they are not colored.
And all the other speakers I listened to, sound indeed sterile to one degree or an other compared to Harbeth.
If you love MUSIC, you can only love Harbeth.
If you love sounds, pass your way...

It's only matter what YOU think. Who cares what others. It's your money , your room and you who is listening. :)

Steve, I'm super excited to try them. If they are industry game changers as I think they may be, they will be going on a road trip to Dallas and New York for others to try.

n.j. is closer than nyc :)

This seems to be the the common problem, not enough places to demo and purchase good gear. How do these MFGs expect to sell their products when nobody can demo them without driving hundreds of miles or flying cross country?

Great question and shows definitely aren't ideal. An in-home demo program works like a charm. Prospect pays for shipping (both ways) and a CC number is held and a deposit charged in case product is not returned. A simple e-signature form is signed authorizing charging the card in case the merchandise is not returned. Done.

That can work out for those that can afford to ship heavy amps and speakers back and forth, but for the common folk, I would go broke before deciding.

Wow....I always envy you guys being live in state ( wide open audio market ) but in terms of this matter I'm so lucky to live in Canada :)

P.S: 100% agree - Home audition is only way to go.... Great question and shows definitely aren't ideal. An in-home demo program works like a charm

Now Paul.....let me ask you, where is the North American Distributor for Tannoy? Hmmmm.....would that be 401 West perhaps?

Paul
I almost bought the 30.1's, but as soon as I listened to the SHL5's I was sold:heart::heart::heart: They truly are a marvelous speaker:audiophile::audiophile:

I had both pairs in my room at same time and I kept the SHL5 as well :) the M30 was great but I liked the super tweeter on SHL5

It all depends on your room size and if you preferred more monitor sounds then you will like the M30 better.
