Has anyone else tried the new AudioQuest Power Cords? I have Tornado, Hurricane and Dragon.

Loving the Tornado. I have 3 - one from Niagara to wall, to Diablo and to Lumin. I demoed the Hurricane which I thought was a step up but I couldn’t justify the price. Got to leave some scope for future upgrades :)

Can you be more descriptive? :D

When I home auditioned the Niagara 5000 and the three Tornado PCs, I noticed a significant improvement to the overall sound quality compared to what I had before (which was no power solution and using the manufacturer's power cables) - most noticeably, a slightly clearer and bigger soundstage.

I then swapped out one of the Tornadoes for a Hurricane (from Niagara to Gryphon) and noticed a very small improvement - mainly in the bass (a touch fuller) and the treble (a touch clearer and slightly more precisely located on the soundstage). But I didn't manage to blind test the Tornados and Hurricane multiple times as I was running out of time. Presumably the improvement would have been more significant if I had swapped out all three Tornadoes for Hurricanes, but I didn't get a chance to do that. Maybe in a few years when I want to upgrade I can try out a full suite of Hurricanes.

Having some miles on the clock now with the Niagara and the Tornadoes (around 30-40 hours of listening), what is really jumping out at me now is that the bass is significantly fuller, richer and more visceral, but still very precise. A friend of mine who has spent many hours listening to my system pre-AQ and who spent a few hours over the weekend listening to it post-AQ said the same thing (without being prompted). He didn't immediately notice the other sonic improvements. Just to be sure, we disconnected the Niagara and replaced the Tornadoes with the manufacturers' cables and the difference was huge. The bass was most noticeable but we also noticed the clearer and bigger soundstage across the entire sound spectrum.

The Hurricane HC has a lot more body (mid-bass) and bass than NRG-1000 and NRG-WEL. It simply creates an unbelievable dense, solid wall of sound. The resolution is excellent (probably comparable although lower than that of the NRG-WEL). What I don't like? Although the stage is pretty wide it's not very deep. And it has a front row kind of presentation... And I think that highs could be a tad smoother and more detailed.

P.S. The Hurricane has almost 40 hours so we'll se what happens later...
