New amplifier on its way!

I have been on the phone with the McIntosh regional representative. He is trying to make it right. He has not been able to get a hold of Thomas; he has gone completely dark to him as well. He wants to see if he can get his dealer in Kansas City to deliver the amplifier to me, keeping the same deal. They would be doing McIntosh a favor traveling so far to deliver and setup, but they would make a little on the sale also. I told him I want the same deal that I paid the McIntosh authorized dealer for, and he totally understands. Hopefully he can get it worked out quickly since I have been waiting 6 weeks now.

Good luck - I do hope it works out for you.

Joe seemed to really want to make this right. He made a very big point that this is not the McIntosh way, and they are very careful with their dealers. He is shocked by what is going on and has not been able to talk with Thomas. He does want to make it right by me though.

I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all this worry and stress Randy.

I also hope, from a purely humanitarian view, that everything is ok with this Thomas fellow. Whoever he is.

Mc is a first class company, so I’m sure they will indeed make it right.

Thank you Mike. I Agee, it seems like he must have some issue going on. Joe (Mc rep) said he has known him for a while, and this is not something he would have ever believed he would do.

Has anyone driven by his store to see if it is even open? That would yield answers very quickly.

Hey Randy, that sucks that you're having to deal with this type of situation. Maybe you could ask a friend or your wife to drive to his store to see if he's even around? I hope you can get the whole thing sorted very soon.

The McIntosh rep and the national sales manager for McIntosh were supposed to be having a Zoom meeting with the Kansas City store today. I have not heard anything as of yet.

No, these guys are the representatives from McIntosh; the regional and the national rep. They want to see if they can get the Kansas City dealer to do the deal that I original paid Thomas for...

Randy, I'm missing something. You have two Mac reps, why can't they just help you directly? Why do they need the dealer? It seems you ship Mac your amp, give them the money then they ship you the new amp.

I asked that question as to why he couldn't simply bring the new amp to me, he said that he preferred to run it through one of his dealers. There are a couple problems with simply sending me the amp. First, I am actually using the amplifier that is being traded and therefore do not want to go without any amp while waiting for the exchange, but more importantly I cannot currently move an old amp out of my system and install a new one because of my recently knee replacement and upcoming second knee replacement procedure. I had arranged all of this with the "authorized dealer" who I made the original purchase from. The dealer flacked out (no one actually knows what is going on with him at this point). I asked the McIntosh representative to honor the exact deal that I had originally paid for. More to come.

I wish I lived closer I'd give you a hand.

Randy, I'd be more than happy to help you move amps, or do anything else you need help with!

Thank you Jeff,

Very much appreciated. One of the owners from the store in Kansas City is supposed to be calling me tomorrow. Until I talk to him, I am not sure exactly how they want to arrange all of this. We will see.

My main issue as far as the system goes, as long as they are going to fulfill the deal that Thomas was originally going to do, is physically moving the MC7100w amp out of the bottom of my rack and installing the new amp in. Wiring, etc., is very straight forward, but getting down on the floor and moving these amplifiers (which are not feather weight) is almost impossible at this moment with my recent and upcoming second surgeries.

Maybe if you could PM me your phone number and I can call you if they cannot physically install it that would be great. It would be cool to get together at some point any way!

I am still extreme worried about what might be going on with Thomas. Everyone says this is not like him, but no one seems to have a clue at this point.

I had a nice talk with the owner of a Kansas City McIntosh dealership. He is getting the new amp and honoring the deal that I originally had made. He will deliver it to me from Kansas City and pick up the MC7100w.

He said that McIntosh had asked him to take care of this. He also said they were very upset with what went down with the Wichita dealer and are actually compensating him covering his costs to deliver and taking care of him as their representative.

He has ordered the amplifier from McIntosh and will let me know when it has shipped.
