Neil Young

Yeah, I saw that he pulled his music from Tidal the day it happened. One day I was listening to Harvest and the next day it wasn't there, just a few sample tracks.:( There's gotta be more to it than poor quality if he pulled from Tidal... Very disappointing.

But Allen, it's back now. As of today. I've been checking regularly.

Just compared Live at Massey Hall vs Live at the Cellar Door. I can't believe some people think Cellar Door is better. He sounds stoned (probably was) on Cellar Door, it has terrible tape hiss and it lacks the dynamics of Massey Hall. Old Massey Hall was an incredible venue for music. I saw so many great acts there. Incredible sound.

The real question is it also back on the lossy streams? He might have thought all streams suck, and after being informed Tidal was CD quality he put it back. He is really anal about having his music sound good.

Thanks for posting Mike, great timing as I looked yesterday and the two albums showing up on Tidal were "unavailable".

Yup! I check daily (I know, I know). Just finished building a big Neil Young playlist. I love my Aurender!!!

Can't speak to the streaming material, but a lot of his records on original or early vinyl pressings are wonderful sounding, and can be found, used, at decent prices. I now enjoy Neil far more than I did back in the day. And agree that Massey Hall is wonderful.

I was a big skeptic in regards to Tidal, but ever since I decided to trial it with Roon I have been a convert ever since, and have been on subscription for quite a few months now. I have been able to listen to so many albums and tunes that I otherwise might not have had access.

Off topic maybe but Neil is getting ready to tour the west coast. If you can see him you really should. His band has Lucas and Micah Nelson, Willie's sons. These guys allow him to play just about anything from his songbook. Don't get me wrong - Crazy Horse is the ultimate - but these guys are the real deal.

I'm holding out for Neil to do a solo tour. Then i'll pony up the dough for tix.

Cellar on vinyl is pretty good but yes, i agree with you Mike about Live at Massey Hall. It is an excellent record.
