Okay, I finally got this process down pat with the Creative X-FI HD. So here are 5 songs (best to download) that you should try through your system and give me feedback. I know there are a few clicks here and there (not many) but I did not use the click remover...haven't found one yet that didn't take out some of the life...Thank you in advance.

BTW (for Matt) - This was recorded using a Pioneer PL-600 with an AT440Mla cart and the $50 ART DJ PRE II phono stage. Not my better system but I think, more forgiving for recording. Check it...LOL

Rob,

Those files have the same sonic signature that my system has, so I guess I would call it a success. As for pops and clicks, for me it's all part of the vinyl experience. :)

The last few nights I've been playing around with a M-Audio USB MobilePre I had laying around which also seems to work fairly well for doing needle drops. It would be interesting to compare a file made with your X-FI vs my MobilePre using essentially the same turntable setup. I could record a needle drop of Besame Mucho off of Magic Man if you're interested.
