My New Lumin

My Lumin has been playing non stop for the last 7 days and seems to have plateaued in the break-in process. It was delightful right from the start, but definitely got noticeably better for at least the 1st few days. I slight over emphasis of the mid base has receded to a pleasing natural balance. My very familiar 18,000 song library, built over the last 10 years in iTunes, has never sounded better. It is a delight to revisit old favorites and find new details, depth, richness and pleasure. My only complaint is the Lumin app, which I find to be lacking in many of the features I love about iTunes. Perhaps it's the learning curve, but I don't seem to be making much progress. I am going to start a new thread on this topic, and hope for helpful suggestions.

Li is very open to app improvement suggestions. You can email him at the paypal email address you used when you bought the Lumin.

The app is only a year or so old and has really improved since the beginning. Li wants it to be better. He welcomes input.

Glad you are loving the Lumin! :)

Did someone else get a Lumin recently ???

:exciting:

Oh my God! This Lumin is absolutely stunning. It was a bear to get everything setup properly but holy cow! I love it. It's smooth, very natural, has amazing ambiance and is extremely articulate.

Wow nice Joe!!

I've got a W20 coming in for audition next Tuesday but all this Lumin talk may make me take a detour . Please let us know your thoughts after a day or so and, if possible, how you feel it slots next to some of the other digital sources you've owned.

I've read some great reviews and I obviously know how everyone feels about it around here. I'm thinking of all the money I'd save! Haha.

Enjoy man.

Michael,

The first hour or two were up and down. It was mushy and constricted. They recommend 150-200 hours for full break in. I'm done with looking for anything else. The sound of the Lumin is EXACTLY why I listen to music. It's not going anywhere for me. Save your money because Lumin is a rising star. Latch on now.

Huge congrats Joe! :woot:

Both Mike and Mark are telling me that I need to make this move as well...

Just a thought here: The Lumin should also be a popular music audio item with the ladies no?

* I hope that I phrased it right. ...And that no people of different sex feel offended in any way.

If you need the full explanation with my exact thought behind, just ask.
I will reply fully, book size, in French. ;)

Streamers, in general, are much appreciated by the ladies or anyone else that wants something simple to operate. Just pull out your iPad and touch what you want to hear !

BUT, it's still the sound that blows you away !!

Thanks Mike. You need to hear it.

Congrats Joe !!

Even after all the hype, it still surprised you didn't it ?

It did indeed. The Lumin A1, Job 225, passive preamp and appropriate speakers would be a killer system.

Joe

Does this mean you will use your new turntable less? I know some other people are listening to vinyl less after getting the lumin.

Most likely. :)

I'm really surprised at how much better the Lumin sounds compared to some high end dacs. It's a new ballgame. I'm ecstatic.

So how are the Lumins breaking in? Have you noticed any changes after 50 to 100 hrs? :audiophile:
