My D2 seems to be bricked, not accessible

exactly. I want to ship it to them, on my dime, so they can say what is up. If I am fraud they can deny, or charge $ double! for headache.

You purchased a brand new unit from an authorized dealer. A Lumin rep on this forum advises that you contact the US Distributor with your invoice. You've done that and the US Distributor refuses to issue a Return Authorization.

Something does not compute.

Only thing that doesn't add up is me not wanting to go back to dealer, whom I refuse to do business with again, to beg for "invoice".

Dealer (very well known Lumin authorized) did not provide "invoice" other than the "packing slip" received in box. Dealer only sent me that and I have my Visa card receipt for transaction. Dealer packing slip has ALL data except price. They demand to see price paid, only missing link. Lumin serial number on unit, on packing slip, Fedex signature. Everything is legit except I must go back to dealer to ask them to prove to Lumin. That's fine. Just big headache. Meanwhile, unit bricked, no sound.

Bottom line, my problem. Better off forgetting all about it. Send to recycler.

edit: Peter was perfectly clear in first post. After which, I emailed Distributor all paperwork provided to me by dealer. It's not a scam, folks.

To be fair to Distributor - he emailed me entire warranty statement, which, I did not read TLDR. Only other missing link. So yeah, I didn't read warranty clause, either. My bad. (2 year warrany, date of sale 2019)

As we discussed, just plug your nose and call them to get the full receipt. I wish you had bought from me! We wouldn’t be having this issue let me assure you. Anyway...

One question: did you happen to use the D2 with any external power supply like an SBooster?

No, except I plugged it into power strip. Right thanks, good conversation. To be fair to dealer they know nothing about all this. Sure they will help, just red tape. Honestly, sorry for the hassle! Lumin not to blame, dealer not to blame. Just have to run through red tape. I thought it would be easy! LoL

OK... you would rather throw away a D2 still under warranty than to ask the dealer for a proper invoice. I get it. LOL.

My interest in this is because I am considering a U1 mini since I only use the SPDIF on my A1 to my miniDSP SHD with room correction. I would hate to think that, should something go wrong, I would not be taken care of.

Don’t worry, I would take care of you!

Go for it. I too would like to check out the U1 mini. The D2 is a beautiful sound. I like it alot.

Something is amiss here... its not uncommon for a small Distributor to use anything they can to avoid any warranty work. Warranty costs them money, if they are already bleeding, they will continue to push product but never want anything else to do with it.

In this case, sale price does NOT matter. It is none of the Distributors business what you paid for a brand new unit from an Authorized Dealer. In fact, the Distributor and Dealer should have already been in communication and everything should be a go without them having you search for an Invoice. Again, I don't think we have the whole story here.

Yes, as of 10 minutes ago I am all set to send the unit to US Distributor. Everybody is on the same page. Dealer was super quick to assist. US Distributor, proactive. We'll see what happened to the unit whether user error or standard repair under warranty.

Peter reached out and gave me an option, also the absolute confidence to proceed as planned.

I'll follow up when they determine the outcome.

How did you go from... "your distributor is treating me like dogshit" to "US Distributor, proactive" ?

dznuts, return service package indound, scheduled Thursday. Fun for the weekend!

@wklie Peter, thanks, up and running again with the super fine D2 sound . US Distributor was quick on the fix.

@Mike I emailed Peter, if you decide to scrub this thread he will still get the message.
