MQA Discussion

Esoteric is now "all in" on MQA. The new N-01 playing MQA files was stunning. Add the new clock, and you have one hell of a system.

I totally agree with Mike about the MQA on the Esoteric N-01 Network Player. I was in the Esoteric room at RMAF at least four times for a total of several hours. The MQA files on the N-01 were simply stunning without a hint of digital edge. With the addition of the G-01X clock even more realism and a more expansive soundstage were added.

Oh man...another guy who writes what's wrong with MQA without doing any actual long term LISTENING.

Is that what Bob Stuart & Co are claiming, for differences to manifest? That might be a hard sell for the average Tidal Hifi streamer, much less audiophiles.
I listened for over a month. Not long enough..?? (then again I don't have seizures or dizziness viewing flashing red lights, or listening to Redbook)

You just need better speakers and then you'll hear the difference. [emoji14]

There is nothing wrong with liking the sound of Meridian's filters. Ayre's reconstruction filter is also "leaky" and sounds great.

All of this MQA back and forth stuff sure makes for boring reading after awhile. Same people telling the same story on why its so freaking great, why they don't like it, whats wrong with it, its all some type of fraud, smoke and mirrors voodoo over and over and over and over. . To the point on some forums people are banned or told to cool it for being a cheerleader for MQA. Hey me, its music it's makes streaming fun. My wife could careless how MQA works, me I don't care either as its not going to make life for me miserable. I guess I'm too old to give a crap and knowing "what's wrong with it" and its not a priority on how I listen to music, which to some most likely makes me an anti-audiophile . And to that I say, whoopie freaking do.

For a couple of months I’ve been streaming Tidal Masters through my DirectStream DAC via a Bridge II. On well recorded material, the improvement with MQA albums is pretty significant compared to redbook. My gripe is with Tidal’s intermittent streaming interruptions.
