Mike's Systems

Thanks Mike. Yes. Jim marked the spot for me. I wanted to listen for a few months before moving it. So far, his setup is perfection.

Very nice pics Mike.

I have a question about this one, what cables are accompanying the Prince, is that a really long pair of jumpers or another speaker cable with very long termination leads? Given the thickness in comparison to the Prince it must be from the Classic Anniversary lineup, 330L or 770L perhaps?

Thank you. Yes, long Siltech jumpers. They only have one option for jumpers. These are it.

Actually for jumpers you can get them in whatever wire size you want so 330L, 550L, 770L, Prince, King, Emperor, Emperor Crown and Emperor Double Crown. I suspect you can get them in the Triple Crown and Explorer series as well. Also you can get them with the dark sheath like they use between the barrels on the speaker cables. The price of each jumper is either identical to or very close to what they charge for their bi-wire option. My dealer had a pair of 330L jumpers the last time I was in. They were the bare unsheathed option like you have with Siltech's own connectors.

Rod, yes, you are correct. Mine are the Siltech Classic Series 770L.

Hey Mike-

Are all your tube traps now out/gone?

Wasn't there a thread about your new room treatments? Could you direct me to it please?

Thanks!

I like that shot of the 770L jumpers vs the Prince in that it's a great shot to show how much thicker the Prince cable is as you essentially go up just one notch in the progressive lineup. Siltech maintains that as you move up to the next model the guage doubles I believe. It's been a while since I looked at the 330L and 770L side by side at my dealer's but I don't think there was such an obvious difference in the AWG size as there is between the 770L and Prince in your photo.

Rod - there is no doubt the Siltech Royal Signature series is where the cables take a nice step up in performance. That being said, the Classic series is no slouch.

Hmm...that room..that system ! Every time I listen to that system and I have hard time to listen my system again!

It's ok. Your system is not shabby either Sonny.

Well, I have a same reason that I don't want to visit Mikes room too ;)

Paul.... Siltech is whispering your name.... ;)

Mike,

Did you get your Siltech USB cable yet? What are your favorite USB cables so far in your systems?

Thanks,
Ken

Just curious on what engineering feat created a Cable Tuning Weight and how do they improve the sound? I mean I have proper climate control in my house and I keep it so there is very little static electricity, has anyone actually scientifically tested this theory? <<<<< Inserted sarcasm! Some of them look cool.... but that's about it for me... I find a good stand or properly treated room does a much better job than cable risers or cables for that matter.. I worked for a Audio dealer years go and use to get a ton of freebies and would test them out and then sell them later if I heard no difference (which was a lot) some were very minor. I guess I just got back to enjoying the music.. ;) and there was a lot of good music playing at Axpona this year!

I think it's along the same theory as a cable lifter. Experiment for yourself. I'm in the "it looks cool" camp. :)

The Siltech cable tuner does act as a cable lifter but apparently they are supposed to do more than lift the cable off the floor. The thing about lifters/isolators/tuners is that some claim that they can subtly change the tonal quality depending upon their construction and positioning along the cable.

I don't really subscribe to subtle changes in sound by positioning lifters but I don't dismiss it either. However I do subscribe that induced static electricity, EM injection and floor born vibration does negatively impact on cable performance and therefore lifters are an important consideration. Indeed a cheap tweak.

When it come to any loudspeaker cable, I choose to wrap them in the soft Techflex F6 woven split tubular harness wrap to minimise vibration, static and dust even further.
