McIntosh MC601's

I am also very surprised to hear what can do the 275 (mk5) with my sasha :disbelief:
when i bought it 3 weeks ago, it was just for the fun (i love the look) and i thought that it could not drive correctly the sasha.
but it is not the case : of course the 601 are better in the low range, but the 275 has something of magic : a beautiful medium, and a spectacular 3D effect. As i don't listen to very high level (arround between 0,6 to 2w), i feel no frustration with it.

great synergy between the c500t and the VPI too

very happy with the two world !!!

Mcintosh for ever :woot:

Just an update:

Instead of upgrading to the mc452 for my 2 channel entertainment, I postponed it and went for the C2500 stereo pre-amp instead.

I wish I could invite every one of you into my humble abode to listen to some tunes. I simply can't describe how sweet the sound is now.....so sweet I could cry. And that's just with a XPR 5 amp.

Just imagine how dry my eyes would be when I get the 452!!!! Oh Lord thank you for my pair of ears and for Mcintosh.

Thanks Joe. It's good to know there are folks out there who can empathize with me [emoji1]

Hey guys

Here's the deal. My ultimate goal in stereo 2 channel amplification for my system (as some of you might already know) is the MC452. That's what I want and that's what I'll get when I'm ready to make the investment. Key word is "ready" which means I'm not ready at this time (for obvious reasons) and am looking at an ETA of 6-12 months.

Here's the question: what amp can I get in the mean time that'll warm up the sound sweetly, breath new life into my 803D's without breaking the bank of course.....keep in mind, I'll be owning this unit temporarily and will be selling it most probably on Audiogon when I'm ready for the 452.

What do you guys think of Jolida amps?

Thanks much in advance for your input. Appreciate it.

My gear:
Oppo 105D
C2500 pre-amp
Emotiva XPR-5
803D mains

I have a Jolida Fusion 3502 and love it. BUT, resale will be next to nothing. I bought KT-150's for it and it sounds even better but total investment is about $2K, maybe a little more. With the KT-150, I get about 85+ wpc.

I don't know how much power you'll need for the 803D's, but you might need more the the Jolida can deliver. The Jolida gives tremendous value for the money.

The only other recommendation I have right now is Odyssey Audio.

Not as warm and fuzzy as McIntosh but SUPERB value and sound.

There is no free lunch.

If you want to warm up the sound more, you could try an Ifi Tube buffer.
