McIntosh 601's + 500T anyone?

Don't listen them Joe. You already have a beautiful set up :).

Joe, I've heard the 601's on two separate occasions. At one place they were driving Magnepan 1.7's with two subs and the other time they were driving both SF Cremona's and Wilson Sophia's (not at the same time though). I preferred them with the Maggies but they sounded great with all of those speakers. How are they doing with the TAD's?

They sound great on the TADs. They are still breaking in and probably need another 50-100 hours to settle down but I love how they sound now. The tweeters seem to sound a little smoother already. I think they complement the TADs very well.

That's great news Joe. Are you using the GAT with them or have you hooked up the 500T?

I've been going direct from the EAR Acute III because I've been using the all EAR combo for the past few weeks. I had a baseline in my head so I'd know what's going on. The C500T will be next, followed by the GAT. I know when I had my ET5 pre with my previous MC601's, it was spectacular so I have high hope for the GAT.

Hi Bill - glad I see you! What a wonderful system you have built. What happened to the big bad Khorns? Have you compared the 601's with and without the 500T? I'm very curious to hear what the 500T adds to the 601's.

I'm curious. I've only listened to the 601s a couple times but one of those times it was compared to a 275 going into magnapam 3.7s and I preferred the 275. Has anybody made that comparison?

Jock - Paul (BlueMcIntosh) can answer this. He has both sets of amps and has owned Maggie's

I had the 1.7 and 3.7 with my MC275's and I loved that combo with a sub ! It was superb.... especially with the Jazz Piano trio playing

I still have the Klipschorns. I biamp with two MC275s with a custom passive XO, and use the MEN220 as a active XO for the bass horn. I also use the MEN220 for time alignment of the MID/HF Horns. I snapped this pics when I was in Jacksonville, not mine, but Solid 10. I am still saving for a C500t and a MT10.

Hi Joe, I too have the 601s but not with the 500T instead, I have the C2300. About the 601, I have about 450 hours on them and I still notice the amp continues to improve as it just gets better and better. Congrats on on your new system. We should start a 601 club.:)

Thanks!

The combo is wonderful. Here's a quick and dirty photo. Not the final arrangement. I'm just having too much fun to disconnect it and rearrange everything.
