Magico S5 update

Other speakers on my short list might be Revel Ultima Salon 2s. FWIW, they have been listed as a Class A speaker on Stereophile's Recommended Components List for several years now. Or perhaps the Vandy Quatro Wood CT.

Just thinking out loud.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

ARC with Magico is not a pairing I see. What I like with Magico is Soulution, Vitus, Pass and VAC. Those are the best with Magico I've heard.

As for the Salon 2's, if they are paired with the right amp, they can be fantastic. A pair of REF250's on Salon 2's was still one of the best sounds I ever had. Man was it good. Hegel H30 is another popular pairing with Revel Salon 2's. I also wonder how a pair of Pass X600.8's would sound and I have a hunch a pair of Bryston 28sst2's would be great too.

With my Magico S5s i tried the following, rank ordered from best sounding to less best sounding (nothing sounded "worst").

- Marantz MA9S2 monos modified by JENA Labs
- Marantz MA9S1 monos modified by Jena Labs
- same as above not modified, although mod really removed the veil and filled the space or volume of room with total sound
- constellation centaur stereo
- VAC 450S (spatial effect was 3D)
- Air Tight ATM-2
- Hegel H30 (all around great performer ... Warming up the delivery)
- CJ Pr 350

I have a pair of Magico S5 speakers for sale and can secure a pair of marantz monos if someone wants turnkey.
