I just saw this, Mike. Can you please delete my post?
Exciting, although it may be awhile until I part with my S3's.

Interesting. It looks like Magico are now using Nano-graphene/carbon bass driver diaphragms similar to the M series. That should improve speed and transparency, as well as coherency. Not wanting to put the cart before the horse, but it will be interesting to see how the S5 Mk2 stacks up against its new sibling?

Larry, do what I do when I buy speakers, take a tandem axle trailer behind the SUV. I've towed speakers worth over $50k in excess of 50 mile on the trailer :D

I was thinking about the M3s - in part 'cos they are simply better, and in part as they would probably better interface with my smallish, 14x19' listening room - but those S3s started me thinking ...

Adam, I wonder if switching to the S3 Mk2 would be an upgrade from your current S5 Mk2's? I recall when the S3 came out, yes I thought it had better midrange than the S5 Mk1, but I thought the S5 was the better sounding speaker overall due to its superior bass foundations. For me, the S5 was a bit better balanced and 'complete'. That said, we'll have to wait and see as the S3 Mk2 is a completely different kettle of fish, though physics suggests the S5 Mk2 should have some natural advantages over it's smaller sibling.

I have no doubts the S5 mk 2 is better in absolute terms. However, my listening room is rather small at 14x19', with concrete floors (read: minimum bass leakage), which is why I'm suspecting the smaller speaker may be a better fit.

The S3 is not a small speaker by any means - it uses dual 8" woofers, just as my previous Wilson Sasha did. And we all know that Sasha can comfortably play in much larger rooms, and so does the S3.

Good points Adam. On the same wavelength as Ken; how are you enjoying your S5 Mk2's now that they've had some time to run in?

Great speakers without a doubt. The best I've heard in my listening room ... by far. I'm very happy with them, and I could live happily with them for years to come. But since Magcio is giving us a lot more options ... I'm considering them :) Blame it on the forums, all the talk how great the M3s are etc., lol.

That is terrific feedback on the S5 Mk2's! I plan to keep mine as my long-term references, and just keep building around my speakers. No doubt the S3 Mk2's will have much of the S5 Mk2's DNA, and benefit from Magico's commitment to continual R&D as seen with the new 8" bass drivers. I'd have to agree, customers now have a lot of great options to suit most rooms and budgets .

Hi Eric,

How are you enjoying your M3's now that you've had some break-in time?

Best,
Ken

Ken,

They are far and away the most amazing speakers I've ever owned (among Multiple 800 series B&W's, Raidho, Apogee Panels)

To Elberoth: My room is also 14'x19' and the M3's are astounding in it. Very easy placement. No bass issues. Great soundstage. The magic is present even at low levels. The needles on my M400 amps don't even twitch on crescendo's. Sealed speakers are the way to go in rooms our size.

Eric
