Magico S1 mk2's - 2 way magic

I am also looking forward to the S3 MK2. I had a chance to audition the new S1s earlier this week. They look terrific. Elegant and futuristic and unmistakably Magico. They sound that way too. Clear and detailed and convincing. But I ultimately think that if you want Magico, then you want that miraculous sounding bass. These don't have it. And if you want smallish two-ways, then you want bewitching 3D imaging of the sort that mini-monitors provide. These don't have that either. I'd describe them as the loudspeaker equivalent of the Porsche Boxter. Many people who love Porsche automobiles derive great joy from driving the Boxter.

Magico 2-ways are known for their bass performance. In fact the Mini robust full range sound is what put these guys on the map. I would argue that my Q1 had as good and perhaps better quality (not quantity) bass then my Q3 and from what I hear, the S1 Mk2 may be even better then the Q1. At CES it sure sounded like that.

I still remember the first time hearing the Q1's. I was with Cyril. They were paired with modest SimAudio gear. They sounded great.

The S1 mk2's are breaking in beautifully. The bass has really started to show nicely and imaging has become even sharper. Soundstage depth and width have increased as well. I still can't get over how coherent they are. Completely seamless. The tweeter is pure magic. Super smooth, with all the detail there. Hours of fatigue free listening.

I was at Mike's place today, and heard the new S-1 mkll's. All I can say is WOW. Tons of beautiful bass for such small floorstanders. They were very clear, clean, articulate, and pure sounding. This is one of the most impressive set of speakers I have heard in a very long time. And this was in his down stairs living area, which has no walls on the right side.....just a lagre open kitchen. They had a beautiful soundstage and center image, regardless of the challenging listening area. I imagine these would be phenomenal in smaller rooms. I put my order in for a set immediately. Be sure to audition these before making any final decisions on small floorstanders. AWESOME !!

Congratulations Jerry, boy am I glad Mike doesn't live close to me.

Joe, these speakers are magical. Completely and totally seamless. So dynamic too. Jerry couldn't get over the snap and drive they had.

Congrats Jerry!!! I hope the wait isn't too terribly long.

Definately a double-edged sword. I get to hear great gear on a continuous basis.......but my wallet falls on Mike's floor all the time....lol. Why am I laughing ??

I feel your pain and I'm a thousand miles away and have YET to set foot in mikes place. Hopefully that will change soon

I loved my original s1's...the imaging was amazing...and mike says the mk2 tweeter is leaps and bounds better than the original. Exciting stuff.

I believe. It may take a mk 2 version, but Magico can make magic. :P

I have not been a fan-boy in the past for the Magico products. But this mkll series is changing my mind in a big way. My hat is off to Mr. Wolf, and the engineering team at Magico.
