M-Project Review

Since the S7 costs more than the Q5, it appears Magico is replacing the Q line with the S, and will keep the Q7 as the TOL speaker. at least until the S9 and S11 arrive. :)

I think that comparission Q5 vs S7 is wrong. If am I correct Q5 was introduced about 2010, right? This was the first model from actual series, so there we have different drivers, crossover etc. Im pretty sure that we can expect Q5 mk2 (or direct successor, maybe some new series?)
S9 or S11? IMO nor reason to exist. Q7 and S7 are more than sufficient if we talk about the size of speakers. In 99% cases our audio rooms or living rooms dont exceeds 60m2.

BTW. Have someone any info about M project availability yet? Did any dealer still has demo pair somewhere in the world?

The S7 is not more expensive than the Q5.
Regardless, the S is position differently than the Q.

Only 50 produced and all presold. You will have to call Magico dealers to see if anyone still has a pair available.

I am also looking forward to JV's review. He seems to hint that these speakers are transparent like the Q without coming across as analytical. I totally agree. I received my pair in January and while I could tell they were very special, they did come across as brutally analytical to me at first - until recently when I found that my amps were starved for power (due to an underspec'd isolation transformer in my electrical path). It's been two weeks since I bypassed this transformer and I have been in heaven. These speakers sound as beautiful as they look.

Hi Ian,

I am so happy to hear that you have identified your system issue and have bypassed the problem. The M-Projects must really be living up to their potential now. I bet they sound absolutely glorious! Enjoy that wonderful sounding world-class system of yours.:)

Best,
Ken

Thanks for posting, Anatta. This is the best I have ever heard Magico speakers sound through a YouTube video. The vocals sound 100% organic and lifelike. What a breakthrough for Alon with his graphene midrange and diamond-coated tweeter. IMO, he has brought Magico speakers to a new level. I expect they will be making a lot of upgrades in the future as this technology trickles down to their other models. Amazing job!

If this is true that Soulution 701 monoblocks sounds a bit warmer and nicer than previous models, then I bet that this system (from my-hiend.com - dcs Vivaldi, Soulution 725/701, M Pro) is one of the best, natural and life-like sounding system in the world.

I liked that system until you mentioned the DCS front end. If you like audiophile qualities and an analytical presentation, yes this would be the best.

David,

With the system that Alon is demonstrating, I noticed that Transparent Magnum Opus speaker cables are connected to the M-Projects. I wonder how much that is contributing to the ultra smooth midrange and treble?

Vivaldi isnt analytical at all! Trust me. Its not like MSB gears for example, but bery natural, neutral and smooth sound. I would say high defintion sound, but more in plasma style than sharp LED :D
Overall I call it "competition sound" - great for 2 hours, but then you could be tired like after some great concert. Thats the reason why I like Accuphase or Vitus - you can listen to all day long.

Hi Ken, I could not say as I haven't heard the Transparent Magnums before, though at $65kUS, I would hope they sound bloody smooth and nice! I believe cables matter & aim for natural/organic, mellifluous sound with my system. Though I also look for good value. And Jorma ticks all the boxes for me.

Alas in this case I think the M Pro's are the star of the show & with the possible exception of the Q7 MK2, are in a league of their own.

Hi David,

LOL...so true! I would love to try the high-end Transparent cables in my system. Ultra smooth midrange and treble with super low noise. Alas, their pricing just doesn't work for me. However, the Kimber Select is giving me tremendous bang for the buck and has wonderful synergy with Soulution and Raidho. This has enabled me to allocate the funds to my new Soulution 520 preamp and Raidho D3's.

Best,
Ken

Relax boys, this is not dCs. It looks like Metronome from the reports (and the pictures)
