Mike, how does that LuxBeth combo sound?

I just got it back yesterday. It sounds very organic. Effortless power. The D-08u is also superb in both “analog like sound”, build quality and price. Luxman offers some very nice CD/SACD/USB DAC single box units for competitive prices.

The 509 has really three different sounds: pass through (no tone controls), tone controls engaged and loudness button engaged. Which one I preferred really depended on the volume I was listening at. At loud volumes, I liked pass through, at medium tone controls engaged, and low volume, modest, loudness button engaged.

Build quality is what you would expect, excellent and the pictures don’t do it justice.

At $9500 for their top dog integrated, it is really superb.

Everyone I’m sure will wonder if it’s better than the Diablo 300. The answer is no. But the Diablo 300 is also $6500 more. But at under $10k, lovely aesthetics and top build quality, plenty of power, Luxman has hit a home run.

I would expect the MC phonostage to be excellent in the 509. I think the one I had in my 590 was the equal to my current Ayre P5xe.

Beautiful gear. Inline with my Luxman DA-06 DAC which is tastefully done and built like a tank. I wish there was a Luxman dealer here in the Twin Cities as I would like to eventually down size my system for a high end Integrated. I like the organic smooth sound of my DAC.

Is Analog Audio in Maple Grove no longer a dealer?

Any verdict compare to Pass Labs Int amp vs Luxman ?
I had the luxury of trying out the 509X over the weekend. It’s a gorgeous unit. The aesthetics and build are first rate.
Compared to the Pass it’s more neutral tone to my ears. At low volumes with tone control mode and loudness engaged it gives a much better presentation, more flavors. The tone controls I can see being a great help in problem rooms. You want a little more or little less bass ....not a problem. And you still have the tone control bypass if you like.
Another big plus is it barely gets warm in comparison with my Int-60 Pass. And it has the built in Phono input for when ya might want to go vinyl.
Power wise It could handle loud very well with good bass control. My Pass has a larger staging than the l-509x but perhaps the Luxman needs more breaking in.
It would be hard to pick between both. If you use at lower volumes it’s no contest. The Luxman is just so versatile. It’s certainly a no brainer integrated if you want something to just plug n play and enjoy :P.
BUT I’m unfortunately the Diablos advocate! ......:snicker:

And this is what it looked like in my system! Yep, Costco rack gone!
Gotta love those meters!

sorry - thought this was for the 30 watt Class A integrated.

it ran hotter than most tube amps i've owned.

and against the Diablo 120? Is it a coin flip?

Thanks Mike.....I'm still a little confused but maybe it's the photo that makes it blue. Even your pic posted here is blue. :disbelief:

Either way....it looks like a winner. :celebrate008_2:

It looks like from the remote you can turn the meter off if you wanted to. ;)
