Lumin

I had the Kenneth Lau PSU and to be frank, I preferred the stock PSU at the end of the day. It DID make a sonic difference, but whether it was an improvement was very system dependent I felt. Ken is a great guy and he does good work. I would like to try his latest creation.

I've tried several of Ken Lau's power supplies. The one for the A1 a couple of years ago, I agree with Mike and yes there was a difference, but in the end, I liked the standard one better.

The new high end one that he makes for the S1, seems to definitely improve the S1. In my D5 system it is a very easy upgrade.

I also think that his D1 power supply improves the D1 A LOT, but it's close to 1/2 of the price of the D1 so it's not the big value upgrade as the Super Power Supply is for the S1.

my $.02

Kenneth Lau use +1-1 regulators between digital-analog stage.This help.If you add 1-1 isolation transformers(choke)around 30va,cost only 15dollar,and better than Kenneth psu.

The 'Tidal' icon is not showing up on the Lumin app tonight..Anyone else having this issue..

calloway,

No, not here. Have you tried all the reboot / reset sequences as described before when you had problems (similar or even different problems?).

Does anybody get noise at the start of new tracks when randomly switching tracks in the playlist in the middle of songs using the Lumin app? I do not get the noise when switching songs using Tidal on the app or when tracks play fully in the playlist.

No. Reboot, computers need it occasionally.

I think I forgot to mention its a Lumin U1. I dont think I had as much noise switching tracks mid song with my Lumin A1. Ill try restarting the NAS its not something I thought of because it seemed like a Lumin issue.

I tested Lumin U1 Firmware 7.06 connected to our test USB DAC, and switching tracks mid song among FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, DSF and among PCM, PCM-to-DSD conversion, DSD64, DSD128 and have not heard any noise.

As an experiment only, please set Lumin U1 to convert DSD to PCM, and keep PCM as (PCM) Native. If this eliminates the noise in your setup, it means the noise you have may be related to the way your DAC handles DSD, which is not uncommon.

Hi Peter I guess you are right since it does not happen with pcm. It's kind of an issue thou because converting PCM to DSD is the way I want to run my Lumin U1 with the Lampizator dac. It is the main reason I purchased a Lumin U1. Funny it does not happen converting tidal streaming flac to DSD or using AirPlay with roon thru the Lumin

What does the noise sound like? A pop sound? Or static? For how long?

With 44.1kHz set to upsample to DSD64 from Lumin U1, does each of the following mid-song track switching result in noise from your DAC?
- DSD64 -> DSD64
- Tidal -> DSD64
- DSD64 -> Tidal
- Tidal -> Tidal
- FLAC 44.1 -> FLAC 44.1
- FLAC 44.1 -> DSD64
