Lumin U2 Mini

Try that thread:

Lumin App for Windows 11 for PC

I stick with Linn Kinsky for Windows. There are some other apps like Asset Control and Upplay and some use a Android Emulator.

I will try the kinski. I read that thread and tried the Linn Kazoo but Tidal wasnt showing up, just Qobuz.I really don't understand any of the computer stuff they talk about so I may have to wait for someone to help me hands on.

My latest problem is for some reason when I go to play music from my NAS all songs are showing multiple times in the playlist. Some 3 in a row and some 4 in a row. No problem till today.

Please install the free MinimServer on NAS, make sure to set the correct directory for your music.

Disable your NAS DLNA/UPnP server if not needed for other purposes.

I'll give it a try when I have someone with computer knowledge here. Thanks again

Now when listening to tidal through the Lumin app I can only add one song at a time from my Tidal playlist. It was adding the whole playlist and playing all the songs. I have not changed anything in the settings. And when i go to my favorite artists shouldn't they come up in alphabetical order?

Ok now long press on the playlist album art adds all songs. Been trying that since 3am and it's now 8am. Good thing I'm retired.

In Lumin app, between the left arrow button and the "Favorite Artists (# items)" there is a button to control sort order.

You can just use Tidal app if its UI suits you more.

To me the Tidal app sound bad. Thanks for the response

Any chance is there is a compatability issue via USB to a MHDT dac. Lumin via USB will play fine via my Pontus Dac but not on the MHDT Dac. Coax plays fine with the MHDT dac

Sure, there is always the possibility of failure modes*. If I were to hazard a guess, it's the MHDT DAC itself, because many, many other U2 Mini users use their U2 Mini with many other USB DACs with no problems, at all.

The fact that your Pontus DAC that also works fine with the USB interface with the U2 also indicates that the the problem likely lies with the MHDT DAC, and not the Lumin U2.

If you want to continue to try to use the MHDT DAC, it would be helpful to perform an FMEA† as this wil be most effective (doing the RIGHT thing) and efficent (doing things RIGHT) approach to determine and remediate the root cause of the failure mode(s) when using USB. The website linked below is web page on how to perform an FMEA. Or, use Coax.

If it were me, I'd just use the Pontus as...it works.

Then you could follow Hans Beekhuizen's advice and..."Enjoy the music."😉

Cheers.

Thanks for the info. I should add that the USB on the MHDT works with my BS Node thats why I was asking maybe an issue with compatability

Yes, well, devices that are connected together usually...interact. Just as time and temperature, Time*Temp, interact when baking a cookie. Such is the nature of chemistry, physics, and engineering. And, with respect to bakin' a cookie, it is the Time*Temp interaction that produces a properly-baked cookie, not Time alone or Temp alone. And, this interaction is what quote often drives or results in what we refer to in DFSS* as the critical functional response (CFR).

And, frequently, just as with bakin' a cookie, the "control factors" in audio system ...interact. It'll come as no surprise that just as time & temperature often interact when driving chemical reactions to completion, the same thing can occur in electrical engineering, audio engineering, or...the functioning of components in a stereo system.

As such, when two components are connected by the USB cable, there are not two, but three functional components, and when connected together, they are not functioning independently of one another, they are functioning together as a system: the MHDT DAC, U2 Mini, and...the USB cable. And, just as with the example given above, these components often do not function completely independently of one another. They can, and often do, interact.

So...if your BN Node works with the U2 and the MHDT doesn't, then it's quite likely there may be a specific MHDT*U2 or MHDT*U2*USB cable interaction between the two at the USB interface that is driving the failure mode.

Which model of MHDT?

Note that only one USB DAC can be connected. Do not connect two DAC to the Lumin via USB.

Try using a computer printer USB cable.

(It is, however, possible to connect four non-USB DAC.)

It is the Orchid DAC. I was only hooking one up at a time. The unit is now sold and I needed to test it before shipping it out.

We have other MHDT Orchid and Pagoda DAC user(s), but we have not received a report of USB issue from them before yours.

From the Orchid user manual -
"in
case of no sound from USB port, please check if there is any device conflict
by device management under control panel.
Avoid using USB hub in connecting Orchid DAC. Signal through USB hub may not work properly and also decrease the sound performance.
If none of these suggestions cure the problem, please do not hesitate to contact us."

This is referring to if you are using a computer. There is no other control panel.

I pulled my Orchid out of the garage and tried it via usb with my u2 mini. No lock light on the Orchid. Mini is in usb mode under settings. The usb cable is a Wire World. Looking like our condition may be SNAFU. If you figure something out please post.

Thanks for confirming but I sold the unit. It did work with my BS Node which I confirmed before shipping it out to the new owner. Just didn't confirm if he has a Lumin. LOL

So I cant figure out how to do this. Instead how do you disconnect the NAS from the U2 mini so I can just set it up again.

Thanks
