Thanks for the info. I should add that the USB on the MHDT works with my BS Node thats why I was asking maybe an issue with compatability
Yes, well, devices that are connected together usually...
interact. Just as time and temperature,
Time*Temp, interact when baking a cookie. Such is the nature of chemistry, physics, and engineering. And, with respect to bakin' a cookie, it is the
Time*Temp interaction that produces a properly-baked cookie, not Time alone or Temp alone. And, this interaction is what quote often drives or results in what we refer to in
DFSS* as the
critical functional response (CFR).
And, frequently, just as with bakin' a cookie, the "control factors" in audio system ...
interact. It'll come as no surprise that just as time & temperature often interact when driving chemical reactions to completion, the same thing can occur in electrical engineering, audio engineering, or...the functioning of components in a stereo system.
As such, when two components are connected by the USB cable, there are not two, but
three functional components, and when connected together, they are not functioning independently of one another, they are functioning together as a
system: the MHDT DAC, U2 Mini,
and...the USB cable. And, just as with the example given above, these components often do not function completely independently of one another. They can, and often do,
interact.
So...if your BN Node works with the U2 and the MHDT doesn't, then it's quite likely there may be a specific MHDT*U2 or MHDT*U2*USB cable
interaction between the two at the USB interface that is driving the failure mode.
