Lumin T2 and Spotify Connect

thanks i will try your suggestions. just fyi i am using asus branded routers both running as router and access points.
btw, i think there is a reset button at the back of the device. i dont think there is any instruction on the website on how to use it. please advise, and whether you think it will make a difference?

To hardware reset a Lumin:
Power off the Lumin. Use a pin to insert into the reset hole in the back, and hold it. Hold the reset while powering on the Lumin. Keep holding it for 20 seconds more until you see some small text on the front panel. Then you can release it.

I'm checking in on this issue.

The spotify connect functionality still hangs when streaming from spotify. It's especially easy to reproduce, just point it to my "Daily Drive" curated list on Spotify and let it play. It never makes it all the way to the end, and requires me to manually restart the Spotify service via the Lumin app.

I'm on the 13.1 firmware release (July 2020).

It's kind of embarrassing that I'm still having this problem almost a year after I first reported it on my premium T2, and that my el-cheapo HEOS devices work fine.

While I understand you integrate a library from Spotify to implement this feature, it doesn't work very well on your device. Can we expect a remedy?

Peter, I bought the D2 for 6 months already. But for some reason I want to try stream music from spotify free account. My lumin won't see it even though I have it enabled in setting. Did I do something wrong ? Do I need to update the firmware from the D2 ? I am using Android phone.

Please check that Lumin D2 is running Firmware 13.3, and Spotify Connect setting is enabled in Lumin app.

You don't "see" Spotify service from Lumin app. Instead:

You see the Lumin device in Spotify app. If it does not appear after tapping speaker device icon, power cycle the whole network, starting from the router, including but not limited to smartphones, Lumin, etc. Your phone needs to be on the WiFi network that connects to Lumin.

If this still does not work, please describe the network topology and state all the brand and model of router, WiFi access points, switches, powerline network adapters, phone, etc.

How check if I have firmware 13.3 or 13.4 (i think thats the latest)
I open the Lumin app from my android phone and i clicked on the Lumin app About
it shows Version 3.0.8
Date 2021-03-18

Attached screen shot.

Thanks

In the configuration see if "automatic update" is activated if so, deactivate it and activate it again. Lucky

There are two "About" functions in the app. The one you chose is About of the app. There is another About in options for Lumin D2.

I'm glad it's working for you now.

What exactly did you do to fix the problem? Rebooted everything? Upgraded firmware? Updated Spotify app?

Peter, I rebooted everything lol.

Hi, my T2 also having problem to connect to Spotify, when I try to connect to Lumin from Spotify app, the "Lumin T2" will keep on appear and disappear non stop at the Spotify "Connect to". If you lucky to press it when it appear, it will show connecting for a few seconds and the nothing happen! Really disappointed with this Lumin T2. Before this I was using Cambridge Audio Azur 851N and it just worked flawlessly with Spotify.

Please power cycle the whole network starting from the WiFi router. Make sure multicast routing and IGMP proxy are enabled in the router.

If that does not help, there may be a fault in the network. Please direct connect the Lumin to another Ethernet port in the devices that provides WiFi (either the WiFi router or WiFi access point) using another unshielded CAT-6 cable, bypassing any Ethernet switch.

We now have five services that rely on multicast discovery, any network equipment that is not designed to support multicast well will become very unstable, even though typical internet access is unaffected.
