Lumin Spotify

With the above report, along with our partner's feedback, It seems that even if a user has an account from one of those launch countries, they still need to wait for Spotify to make this feature available to them, individually. Eligible users will receive a notification.

I don’t get why they have to roll it out gradually to certain countries first?
Why not just let everyone have access if they pay for it?
Next question, why would you want it if you are capped at CD quality, when Tidal and Qobuz offer High res?

We have no information on pricing for the Spotify lossless. The Spotify premium has been increased by $2 per month commencing the next billing cycle. My Qobuz free three month trial will conclude soon. I cancelled my Spotify subscription due to the price increase, and I am not going to continue with Qobuz because Spotify is better. The end result being, I'll listen to the free Spotify and AirPlay it to my Esoteric and pass on Spotify Connect.

Spotify Lossless is or will be (at least for applicable countries) included in Spotify Premium, which has priced increased.

Unfortunately there appears to be a problem with Spotify allowing lossless playback on our hardware, even though we were certified, and we are investigating it.

I've been working over the weekend to resolve this issue, and I expect the fix to be available very soon.

Meanwhile, here's a longer list of Spotify Lossless regions, according to reddit: United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, Ireland, Taiwan, Portugal, Israel, Greece, Hungary, Singapore, Romania, Slovakia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Iceland, Serbia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino.

I'm thinking about trying Spotify Connect once the lossless availability is confirmed in USA.

Hoping to hear from anyone who is using Spotify Connect on their LUMIN in the USA. The LUMIN model number, firmware and App versions would be appreciated. Also a price per month for the Premium/Connect/Lossless tier, whatever they call it, would be great.

If Spotify can equal the sound quality of Qobuz and is supposedly so much better at new music discovery as reported by so many users, then it seems like it would be worth trying.

I noticed today just how good Spotify is for the radio feature, what I mean is when you select a song you like and play it, it continues to play songs after this one is finished. Never felt the need to select anything else.
I am using Spotify connect in Canada.

Spotify is 44.1kHz only, Qobuz offers up to 192kHz.

There is only one paid tier for Spotify (other than the free tier with low bit rate, forced ads, and other restrictions).

Note that if one signs up for Spotify Premium now, it is likely you won't get Lossless immediately, you may need to wait until Spotify grants Lossless access to you. There may be a wait of up to 6 weeks if they promise to get everyone in launch country Lossless by October.

In some countries Spotify is more expensive than Tidal / Qobuz.

Firmware 21 is released to support Spotify Lossless to all Lumin streamer models.

To use Spotify Lossless:
  • Make sure you are subscribed to the (paid) Spotify Premium
  • Wait for Spotify to notify you that you are entitled to Lossless quality playback
  • Make sure your phone is on WiFi and Lumin is powered on and connected to the network
  • Update Spotify app to the latest
  • Update Lumin firmware to 21 or newer using Lumin app
  • If you have disabled Spotify Connect in Lumin app before, please enable it in Lumin app
  • Launch Spotify app, (top left hand corner) profile → Settings and privacy → Media quality → change your (phone speaker) Audio Streaming Quality to Lossless
  • Play something that is NOT what you usually play using your phone speaker, make sure you see Lossless indication on the track
  • Switch the output to Lumin
  • (The playing track becomes 320k quality)
  • Change quality settings → Lossless, confirm to “Turn on lossless”
  • (The current playing track remains to be 320k even after the quality setting has been changed)
  • Play a different track so that this new track is Lossless
  • Repeat the steps for changing quality setting for every piece of hardware, because the quality setting is per device rather than global

The strangeness of this procedure comes from the per-device setting, and I experienced an issue that previously cached 320k track remains to be 320k even after I changed the quality to Lossless and changed tracks multiple times, and I don’t know how to make the app drop the cache.
